We recently connected with Kierstin Taylor and have shared our conversation below.
Kierstin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Since networking has been one of my primary focuses for the year, it has allowed me to develop and secure Middle Ga Black Pages as a client. This allowed our team to do the marketing and branding material for their first Black Business and Community Expo. This expo housed over 100+ vendors and several thousand people from all over Middle Ga Area. We designed everything from the logo to all print and digital assets, as well as video and photography. We were thankful to be a part of this successful event.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My thought process in starting my business was not intentional. I graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS with a Bachelors in Graphic Communications and a minor in Packaging. I moved back home due to hiring processes being on hold and after much prayer, the decision was made to start my own business. As a designer, I specialize in creating logos, websites, brand identity, etc. I’m excited to have the opportunity to help new entrepreneurs and existing business owners brand their business. I am honored that they entrust me to be a part of their process. It is truly a blessing. But, to be a Graphic Designer, you have to constantly be creative and help the client to think outside of the norm. I am grateful to be an African American young woman with a Graphic Design business and to have a team of other talented individuals by my side.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Some of the most rewarding aspects of being a creative would be the freedom my clients give me to develop their branding materials. The excitement my clients have with the final products is always rewarding. Having the ability to work with several different businesses has also been a bonus. We’ve had the pleasure of working with advanced registered nurses, estheticians, photographers, public speakers, the beauty industry, and more.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
One resource I wish I knew about were the websites that generate contracts based on your field. This has saved me a lot of time on the business administrative side.
