We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kierstan Hernandez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kierstan , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Nurtured and supported my goals and aspirations.

Kierstan , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Howdy readers! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my entry. When people ask me to elaborate on my story I never know where to begin. Let’s start off with the simple things, my name is Kierstan Hernández from Houston Texas. Health and movement became a priority when I started high school. Little did I know, this passion would turn into a full blown career. Taking me places I’ve never imagine I would be. Before moving from Texas, I held many teaching positions at different local dance studios around Houston, Sugar Land and Katy Texas. I started teaching youth ballet, tap, creative movement, hip hop, jazz and so much more. In 2013, I then decided to add group fitness into my educational repertoire. Fast forward to 2017 when I transferred my gym job, moved to Los Angeles and participated in a dance training.
Now this all sounds glamorous, but looks can be deceiving. Things with my career really started taking off when I was offered a full time position at a local private school (literally just got the call that I received the position and you all are some of the first people I told! Welcome to my family :) ) where I will be helping out in the physical education department. God is good! Don’t give up and I say it again don’t give up. This is one of my most proudest moments of my career yet. Being recognized for something that you not only love to do, but are passionate about is the ultimate goal, well, at least in my world. My goal is to reach the masses all around the world. Each morning I wake up and I look in the mirror and I tell myself
you will have a globally known fine art institution.
Words are power, so fill your heart and surroundings with positivity. Who knows where you may end up.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Pull up a chair and get real comfortable because, I have stories for days on this matter. When I was younger (teenage years) back in Houston, I started playing tennis in the summer. One of the youth coaches decided to ask me what I wanted to do when I got older. Without any hesitation I replied PROFESSIONAL DANCE. Y’all know what he said to little me!? And I quote “Oh you want to be broke.” That moment could have changed the course of life, but l persevere. We are the gatekeepers of our destiny. There will be individuals who decided to give up on their aspirations, don’t let that be you. Misery loves company. As simple as that.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I wouldn’t change anything. The journey has its pros and cons, but learning to trust the process has been the most rewarding experience. Hopefully someone reading this will be encouraged to take that leap of faith and start that project, go for that dream job or try something new. Life is too short for what ifs
