Kiera, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?

The kindest thing that anyone has ever done for me was to believe in me…believe in my art and take a chance on it. This pertains to a very select few in my life and if it wasn’t for their act of kindness, I don’t know what I would be doing with my music right now. Those people will always have a special place in my heart.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I go by Master Kie, not only because it is a play on words (my real name “Kiera” and the word “key”), it also represents the infinite possibilities of my sound. No more locked doors when you have the Master Kie! I got into production because enjoyed being in the background when it came to music even though lately I have gotten more comfortable performing my work in front of a crowd. I believe music producers play an important and often unsung role in the industry. What sets me a part from other music producers is my ability to tell stories and evoke emotion through my instrumental projects and beats. It is also what makes me most proud when it comes to my work!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

I wish I would have known more about the grants that were available in my city! I will definitely be taking advantage of those from now on. They are a super important and helpful resource for creatives of all kinds!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect for me is always the reaction from a finished project or performance. My favorite compliment in the world when it comes to my art is “you keep growing”.
