We recently connected with Kieler Avery and have shared our conversation below.
Kieler , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve always loved singing. I started musical theatre when I was 3 years old and did that for years before I picked up a guitar and started learning how to play and sing on my own. I taught myself to play guitar by watching videos of tori Kelly play. I would spend hours watching these videos and trying to match how her fingers moved. I had piano lessons for years through elementary school, learning a more classical style. As I got older I kinda ventured away from that and just learned how to do chords so I could sing with it instead.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Pretty much everything I do right now is independently done. I worked with a producer to make my debut EP “Punchline” last year, while in school full time finishing my junior year. I think a lot of what draws people to my stuff is because I’m just like every other teenager, going through all the things teenagers go through and that’s something everyone can relate to at some point in their life. I write about what I’m going through and what I’m feeling, it’s just sort of become a therapy for me. I’m super proud of that EP I released in December of 2021. It’s something super special to me and people seem to really like it!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Buy our music! Buy our art! If you like our work, tell us! It means so much when people say “hey I really enjoy your work.” Support means the most.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I really want to tour one day! I have a lot of goals. I want to get signed to a record deal, create and release an album, etc… but I’d say touring, even as an opening act, is something I really really want to experience!
