We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kiawana Leaf. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kiawana below.
Kiawana , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission with both of my business entities is to serve, support, empower, inspire, and influence others. How do you overcome adversity when you are alone and don’t know which way to turn? Or, you may face the fear of the unknown. You may not feel worthy or deserving of greater things. You may not know or have no identity or purpose in yourself. My audience is for those who can relate to any of these categories. With my non-profit organization, we create a haven of community support for expecting moms, new moms, and single moms. We provide resources while building community and relationships. We inspire women to find and fulfill their purposes and identities, embracing vulnerability and using their traumatic wounds for greater glory.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a woman of many talents, I identify first as a daughter of God, then as a mother, and subsequently as a bestselling author, creative, entrepreneur, mentor, speaker, and leader. Discovering my purpose led me to my industry. I have conquered numerous challenges, including domestic violence, single motherhood, and loss of identity and faith. I have also experienced hardships that could’ve led to poverty, heartbreak, church hurt, and even attempted suicide. However, God has been my guiding force. Through life’s transitions, I have developed my industry, business, discipline, and craft. By sharing my story, I have avoided complacency and stagnation. I have come to realize that we are not alone, and there are many selfless individuals who care and offer support. As someone who has experienced this support, I have started my business as a means to achieve freedom and healing, and to empower others to do the same.
My first business, EmpowerTooInspire®️, was born out of this vision that inspired me to launch my non-profit organization BoyMomToo™️. The products and services I offer include published books, empowering merchandise, an annual community baby shower, health expos, and women’s seminars and symposiums. What sets me apart is my lack of self-gain or self-motives; instead, my mission and purpose are to inspire others to see God in me and believe in miracles again. I am committed to ensuring no one is left behind. We all have a purpose and identity in Christ, and I hope and pray we find and fulfill it before we are called home.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I had my son in 2021, I lost my job, and for a year, I had no source of income. I depleted my savings and didn’t know where the next would come from. I felt unmotivated, ashamed, and embarrassed, like I failed by becoming a single mother again. However, once I submitted to God’s plans, not my own, I birthed BoyMomToo™️, released a billboard in Times Square, and released my fourth book. Sometimes God stretches us, but He won’t let us pop; we must trust Him, kill our flesh, and submit. Money is good and needed, but it won’t open doors wider than obedience and submission. I’ve spent thousands on PR and press interviews without seeing movement, but intimacy with Christ created more momentum than money.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I consider transparency, authenticity, and vulnerability to be strengths, not weaknesses. Many misinterpret them. In my opinion, people often provide access to those who aren’t equipped to handle it, causing issues. However, one can be transparent, authentic, and vulnerable without sacrificing privacy. I’ve managed to achieve this! It’s about having the right intentions and motives.
