We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kiarra Chapman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kiarra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
With music, I actually started by writing poetry. It was always an outlet for me to get my emotions out freely because I didn’t feel like I could speak freely without being judged or punished. In high school I was in an extended program called ‘Audio and Video production Arts’. The class mostly focused on photography, which I also have a love for, but my true love was music. I remember soon as we could do free time I would take over one of the 2 recording spaces and I would just mess around with the different buttons and basically taught myself how to record my songs on PRO tools. I of course asked my teacher at the time questions here and there. But majority or the time I was in there learning trial and error. He took notice and after I graduated he actually let me take on of the IMAC computers home and I remember that’s when K.Melodi was born. From then on I knew music is what I wanted to do and was going to keep going to do.
Knowing what I know now I would have hone in on my potential more seriously sooner even without the support I’ve always yearned for from the people closest to me.
The skills that were most essential include perseverance, patience and grace.
The obstacles that stood in my way of learning more was a mixture of depression and lack of recourses… yea that pretty much sums it up. lol. I also think the biggest obstacle I’ve had to get over more recently has been myself.
When It comes to Reiki and energy healing. I believe I was truly spiritually led towards learning how to become a Reiki practitioner. It started when I was in a very toxic relationship with my child’s father. I decided I wanted a change and no longer wanted to be depressed anymore and started searching for ways and better habits to help me maintain through the difficult times when life is out of my control. I first started learning about Reiki and meditation to help myself heal from childhood trauma and through day to day stress. As a single mother of a 6 year old, college student, music artist, entrepreneur and working on self, a lot falls on me to get done by myself or with help from the village I am building. Keeping a balance between my spiritual life, business, being a Mother and fun, really has had its positive benefits to my life. Being able to manifest my desires faster is definitely one major reason.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m most proud of how I’ve turned my personal healing journey into a purposeful mission to help others. I didn’t take the easy route—I built my path through persistence, passion, and a deep belief in my calling. From learning the ins and outs of the music industry to creating a space for spiritual healing and self-expression, I’ve stayed true to my vision, even when it wasn’t the popular or easy choice. Every song, performance, painting, and energy session I offer comes from a place of authenticity and intention—and that’s what makes my work meaningful.
Everything I create is rooted in healing. Whether it’s music, jewelry, energy work, or conversation—I aim to help people reconnect with themselves, feel seen, and feel empowered.
– My work bridges art and spirituality. I don’t just perform—I facilitate transformation. I want my audience to leave my spaces feeling lighter, freer, and more connected to who they are.
– I walk what I talk. My brand isn’t just about aesthetics or trends. It’s about real stories, real growth, and real love—for self and others.
– I’m here to serve. Whether you’re a fan of my music, a client receiving a reading or Reiki session, or someone wearing my jewelry—I want you to feel that you’re being nurtured and uplifted.
My brand is for the seekers, the feelers, the ones who are growing, healing, and learning to take their power back—just like I did. And if that’s you, you’re in the right place.

How did you build your audience on social media?
NETWORK! NETWORK! NETWORK! “Your Network is your net worth” is a statement you should not take for granted. I think it’s good to have good old fashioned business cards to hand out. There are electronic business cards that you can use that you can connect your social media accounts and website to. This is the best way to keep all of your socials in one spot. Or you can use an app called ‘link-tree’ that can help you link literally anything with a link that you would like to promote in one spot. I use link-tree myself and love it and put the link in multiple social bio’s.
After you get the contact…use it!

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Honestly…something as small as hitting the like button on an influencers socials, sharing an independent Artist music and listening to it yourself can go a long way. It doesn’t cost money to help share and promote someone’s art or business. If you can support by purchasing the music, and/or merch, then by all means do that! Share with people who you know can do the same!
Referrals and collaborations go a very long way as well. Especially for us small business owners.
