We were lucky to catch up with Kiara Thomas recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kiara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?

The focus is out of scope. There is little to no focus on the associates and their needs– which is why companies are struggling to find longevity in their associates. Fear is still the force leading companies versus true leadership and compassion.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

In her studies for Engineering Management, Kiara has found a further need to help with the advancement of Automotive Technologies & Manufacturing Processes, while keeping her focus on her family and her community. She has been working for the top OEM Manufacturers and Tier-One Supplier companies for almost a decade.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

Close-mindedness… I never realized how close-minded I have been while trying to create more open-mindedness in the automotive industry. The new leadership & workforce is not operating the same way as the older generation that still exists, so there has to be a change. Even the industry is changing– with the focus on Electric & Autonomous Vehicle, this is new territory for companies like Ford, GM & Stellantis/Chrysler, so there are a ton of moving parts all at one time… I just have to change my approach to see things from all perspectives of my customers, not just limit to the problems that I am aware of or have personally experienced. It’s to expand all of that.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Relationship– I’ve made an effort to build relationships with people and allow them to see the passion I have between why I have created this business and what it means. This has been a great tactic to come to an understanding and raise the presence of the intention & mission behind Quality Resolution Systems.
