We were lucky to catch up with Kiara Pierre recently and have shared our conversation below.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi everyone! My name is Kiara Pierre I am a licensed nail technologist based in the metro Atlanta area. Many may think doing nails is as simple as painting polish on a nail but, it is so much more. I am a creator, an artist that offers therapeutic services to my clients. Being a nail technician takes skill, patience, risk, and an accepting mindset. The industry is always evolving with new techniques and new trends that we as service providers have to stay on top of to stay relevant in the community. I ensure my clients leave feeling better than they did when they arrive not only by enhancing their nails but by conversation.
What sets me apart from others is that I educate my clients on the different forms of enhancements they are getting from service providers in my field. While nails are for aesthetics if proper sanitation procedures are not taken they can become harmful and even dangerous.
I am most proud of how far I have come, there have many many obstacles standing in my way but, with faith, I have overcome them all. It was never easy and there were times I felt this may not be what was destined for me but the great support I receive from family, friends, nail artists, and my clients keeps me going. I want potential clients to know I am looking forward to building new relationships, bringing something new to the industry, and bringing your nail dreams to life as your trusted technician. To my followers, thank you for riding this nail journey with me and keeping me on my toes by providing new content for you all. To all the nail enthusiasts out there I want you to know it took time for me to perfect my craft, enjoy your own journey! Don’t compare yourself to others we all have our own timelines.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is a very tricky thing to understand with their algorithms constantly evolving. I started my social media journey 3 years ago in 2019 on Instagram (@nailedbyki_) and during this time I would just post to simply post, and get content out there for potential clients to notice me. It took 3 years to reach the number of followers I have now and fully grasp how to make my page engaging. The best advice I can give ANY business owner is to be consistent with your content. Once you introduce your audience to content and it performs well they will expect that content often. Decide early on the type of content you want to be displayed on your page because if you try to introduce it after you’ve established what you are “known for” it may not perform well with your audience. Another piece of advice I would like to offer readers is to learn about the engagement of your page. It is crucial to know when the best times are for you to post and the best days. Running a social media page is essentially an additional job but, if done correctly can make you money and give you opportunities to grow. Because of social media, I am a partnered ambassador for a nail company, receive monetary bonuses for my content, and a platform to share my truth with fellow nail enthusiast on products I personally recommend. And know this advice is for other social media platforms outside of Instagram that has helped me grow.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
While it is important to grow your clientele it is equally important to keep your loyal clients happy. Your loyal/returning clients are what keeps the business going show them appreciation! I always inform my loyal clients first of the availability for the new month before opening to the public. This may seem like a small gesture but means a lot to them. There are many different ways to show appreciation, money off a set, birthday gifts, free add-ons, etc get creative!
