Studying esthetics at Lesprit Academy was a transformative experience that I’d gladly repeat. The vibrant community of fellow students turned to lifelong friends and the guidance of dedicated teachers made the journey unforgettable. Despite the initial struggle of managing full-time studies alongside work commitments, the unwavering support from family, friends, and clients propelled me forward. Cosmetology school not only honed my esthetic skills but also provided a holistic education, delving into the business side of the industry, making it a pivotal chapter in both my personal and professional growth.

My name is Kiara Miller, I’m a 25-year-old licensed esthetician and the proud owner of CBK Spa in Southfield, Michigan. My journey into the beauty industry began at the age of 16 when I discovered my passion for makeup, starting with self-application and expanding to peers and even fashion shows. Growing up in the vibrant “fashion district” on Livernois, surrounded by black-owned businesses, I knew I wanted a career aligned with my passion.
Today, CBK Spa offers a diverse range of services, including makeup, brow tint, lashes, full body waxing, body treatments, and facials. My mission goes beyond aesthetics – I strive to empower busy women, helping them feel more productive and confident to conquer their worlds. What sets me apart is my unwavering passion, personable customer service, and meticulous attention to detail. I take pride in my journey’s growth, showcasing resilience in both personal and professional realms.
My message to aspiring entrepreneurs echoes my own success story. I encourage others to pursue their passions fearlessly, emphasizing that if God placed a dream in their hearts, they should press on. In the esthetics business, success hinges on a combination of patience, determination, unwavering focus, the ability to embrace the journey, self-compassion in the face of mistakes, and a foundation of prayer and faith. Passion for the craft is an essential thread woven into this tapestry, infusing the journey with vibrancy, purpose, and a deep fulfillment. Patience allows for skill development, determination fuels resilience, focus ensures progress, enjoying the journey fosters fulfillment, owning up to mistakes cultivates growth, and prayer and faith provide a source of strength and guidance throughout the entrepreneurial venture.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If given the chance to rewind time and select my profession once again, the resounding affirmation echoes – yes, I would unequivocally choose the same path. The journey in my chosen field has been a tapestry of challenges, growth, and profound satisfaction. This profession has not only allowed me to hone my skills but has been a catalyst for personal growth as a young entrepreneur. Learning the invaluable lesson that relationships are paramount, both professionally and personally, adds a layer of significance to my journey. To this day, I wake up every morning in tears of gratitude, thanking God for the privilege of doing what I love. The intricate blend of passion, learning, and personal fulfillment in my career makes the prospect of selecting it anew an unwavering decision.
