We recently connected with Kiara Martin and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kiara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
There was a time when my life felt like an endless cycle of hospital rooms, medications, and unanswered questions. I was searching for relief, for clarity – something to hold on to in a world that seemed to be slipping through my fingers. My body was betraying me in ways I couldn’t explain. Doctors ran tests, offered surgery, prescribed pills, and sent me on my way, yet nothing changed. The seizures came without warning. After having seizures two times a day, three times a week, my emotions were tangled in the frustration of not knowing what was wrong, of feeling unheard and unseen.
Then, one day, I looked in the mirror and saw more than just a sick person. I saw someone who refused to give up. If no one could give me answers, I would find them myself. I dove into research, learning about the body’s intricate connection to emotions, trauma, and overall health. The more I learned, the more I realized – I wasn’t just fighting a physical battle. My emotions, my past, my struggles – they were all woven into the symptoms I was living. Healing wasn’t just about medicine; it was about understanding myself.
That is when it clicked: true healing had to start from within. So I took control. I explored new ways to nourish and heal myself – mind, body, and soul. The journey to healing is ongoing, and I know I am not alone in this. I know there are others out there, struggling, searching, and hoping for someone to understand, and I do.
That is why I created Hidden Heals – a place where healing isn’t just about a diagnosis or a prescription but about the journey of discovering what our bodies and souls truly need. I wanted to share my story, not just to tell it, but to create a space for people like me. A space where we can support each, other learn together, and remind ourselves that healing is possible.
We all have wounds, some visible, some hidden. But together, we can heal.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Kiara Martin, the founder of Hidden Heals, who is no stranger to resilience. My journey to healing began in the depths of uncertainty – rather it be due to the countless hospital visits, emotional trauma, from what I let build within me, or simply having a body that seemed to be working against me. I refused to surrender to my fear, but face it head-on.
Through restless research and self-discovery, I uncovered a deep connection between emotions and our physical health. I learned that healing wasn’t just about treating symptoms; it was about understanding myself on a deeper level, a more holistic and spiritual level.
Hidden Heals required me to start over, recognizing the beauty in rebuilding, in rediscovering and becoming. With a fighter’s spirit and an unwavering belief in myself Hidden Heals was born – a platform dedicated to those on their own journey toward wellness. My mission is simple: share my story, uplift and encourage, and remind the world that together, we can heal.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A powerful lesson I had to unlearn in order to create Hidden Heals was that life is not meant to be lived in comparison. For so long, I measured my journey against others – how far they had come, how easy their path seemed, how much I felt I was falling behind. I let comparison steal my peace, making me feel like I wasn’t where I was “supposed” to be. But healing doesn’t follow a straight path.
I had to recognize that the lessons life was teaching me weren’t setbacks – they were the foundation. Every hardship, every unanswered question, every moment of starting over was shaping me into the person I needed to become. When I finally let go of the need to measure up to others and embraced my own unique path, I found the strength to build something meaningful.
Hidden Heals was born from that realization. Healing isn’t about being perfect or keeping up – it’s about learning, evolving, and trusting that your journey, no matter how difficult, it has purpose.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The journey of starting Hidden Heals and my own healing is a testament to resilience – the ability to keep moving forward, even when everything feels impossible. Resilience isn’t about never falling; it’s about choosing to rise, again and again, no matter how many times life tries to break you.
For years, I faced unexplained health challenges and despite the moments I wanted to give up, I refused to accept that would be the end of my story. I chose to take control of my healing, I listened to my body, and I began to understand the deep connection between the emotional and physical well – being.
But resilience isn’t just about pushing forward – it’s also about trusting yourself enough to start over. Life threw challenges, but they were opportunities. Resilience is never about the struggle, it’s about your ability to keep going.
