Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kiara Joseph. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kiara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I’m sure I am not the only one who experienced a sudden shift in their life in 2020. For me that shift was losing a job, and having to move back home with my mom. I remember the feeling of desperation and confusion. I thought I had it all figured out, the career path, the relationship, I was establishing a life for myself. Once COVID hit the U.S. within a few months, my position at a dentist practice finished. They let everyone go and shut down the practice. I was also in a long-term relationship at that time, living together. And again within a few months after losing my job I realized that I wasn’t with someone who could understand my needs, let alone did I understand my own. Still fairly young and figuring it all out, I moved back home with my mom and siblings. Three months passed since moving back home and still no income. After months of searching for a job, interview after interview, still nothing, I had to take action. Within my time frame of looking I really stepped more into my passion of health and fitness. I decided to pursue my certification as a trainer and nutrition coach. Never in a million years would I think I would be helping people in the way I am. Once I completed my certifications, I started to take clientele. Now this was all new to me, and it was really working. I had so much interest, gaining clientele I use to feel overworked or burned out. Sometimes I wasn’t even able to sit down and have a meal. After a few months of training I decided to take a leap of faith and fully pursue my own business practice. So I got my LLC, launched a website with more services and products to offer, set up ways to get passive income. It was, still is, a complete learning experience. So exciting yet so terrifying. Nothing was ever consistent, my income fluctuates, I have amazing days and I have bad days also. But I do not regret my decision to pursue this for myself. I am fully invested and thinking long-term for Knicole Fitness and how we will help educate others of the importance of health and wellness. Had I decided to settle for what I know would make me a quick income, I would have missed my purpose and my opportunity to pursue where my passion truly lies.
Kiara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
A 21 year old business owner progressing, I am Kiara Nicole owner of Knicole Fitness. Starting Knicole Fitness had to be one of the most rewarding things I could have done. It has really challenged me to become better, to become disciplined, to have a hunger for more, to think BIG picture. This started as just me wanting to lose some weight and feel healthy again. I fell in love with the journey, and shared it with so many others on my instagram. My progress then inspired someone else, and another, and another. Before I knew it I was helping others do the same thing that I did for myself. I’ve been motivating, inspiring, and educating my peers and supporters on the importance of health and wellness. Helping them obtain their goals, and break down the normalities of poor health decisions that are so common today. In what we eat, how much we are consuming processed refined foods, lack of exercise, poor or inconsistent sleep schedule. I couldn’t love what I’m doing anymore, and this is only the beginning.
Often the problem that I see is people get so busy and caught up with their daily lives they forget to take care of themselves. The heart behind my business is to remind people that their health is more important, and essential to their everyday lives. Here we offer Training Services in-person and online, Nutrition plans, Fitness based programs, Fitness Apparel, and plenty of educational content on our socials. We are known for our encouraging environment. Knicole Fitness has created a community where we can motivate each other, and get inspired by our different testimonies.
Our why, has to be what sets us apart. Remember you why, has to be one of my favorite quotes. Why do we do this? For the people, for the future, because there are people right now leading themselves into health issues later in life, there are people who don’t have anyone holding them accountable, and there are people who simply just don’t know. It’s not about making my business the greatest thing since sliced bread, but about how many lives can be changed from Knicole Fitness.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Networking for sure! Connecting with others in this field, learning from them, partnering with them for projects and events is the key. So many say that this field is over saturated but I believe that they’re are so many ways we can help each other with our similarities and differences.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Growing your clientele comes with consistency and truly getting clear on who is your target audience. I think the biggest lesson I learned is that not every client is my ideal client. Some people want help but do not truly want the help. Getting intentional with the clientele you want to have, putting yourself out there and promoting, staying consistent with definitely help you gain clients. A lot of my clients come from my socials or referrals. I’ve also found that offering value is an amazing way to attract leads.
