We were lucky to catch up with Kiara Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kiara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

A few years ago, I was laid off from my job. At the time, I did not have any income coming in. I remember worrying about how I was going to pay my bills, buy groceries, etc. I spent some time praying and journaling so that I could get a few ideas on how I could make extra money. I began to think about how much I love flowers and how I would love to become a florist. I remember sharing this idea with a few people and soon after, I received my first floral order. I made my first floral order and posted it on Instagram. After posting, I received many dm’s about the bouquet that I posted and here we are 2 years later, still in business and clientele is growing. I am forever grateful for this journey that has helped me discover a new passion.

My name is Kiara Johnson, I am from Memphis, TN. The name of my business is Purposeful Blooms floral Bar. I specialize in custom bouquets for birthdays, anniversaries, just because gifts, wedding bouquets, corsages and more.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

What has helped me build a reputation within my market is being creative and aiming to put a smile on each customer’s face.
Each bouquet is customized to the customer’s needs.

As an entrepreneur there are times when business is sometimes slow. However, I have learned the importance of staying true to my passion and staying true to my business by being committed no matter what.
