We recently connected with Kiara Davis and have shared our conversation below.
Kiara , appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the greatest steps of faith I’ve ever taken is the one I’m currently walking in. I’m choosing to fully trust God (Jesus) with every gift He’s placed within me as I return to the modeling industry after taking a step back to reflect, grow, and realign. During this time, I realized that I had been holding myself back—doubting the very dreams and ideas that God had placed on my heart.
Now, as I re-enter the industry, I’m doing so with a renewed mindset, deeper clarity, and a purpose that extends beyond myself. I’m not just returning for the sake of modeling—I’m returning to serve, to share, and to help guide those who are entering the modeling world, considering a rebrand, or simply seeking a better understanding of how the industry works while staying true to their moral values.
It took me a while to get here. For a long time, I put myself in a box, unsure if it was even possible to be fully committed to Christ and also thrive in the modeling world. I wrestled with the desire to walk boldly in this space while not compromising the standards and principles of the Kingdom. I was willing to surrender every dream I had of becoming a successful model—whether in runway, commercial, or editorial—because I wasn’t willing to compromise modesty or participate in projects that didn’t align with my faith.
That internal conflict led me to pause, but in that stillness, God revealed something powerful: it is absolutely possible to pursue your God-given passions while walking in righteousness. I don’t have to choose between my calling and my convictions—I can honor both.
So, as I take this leap of faith, I do so with the intention of not only walking in purpose but also encouraging others who are navigating similar paths. Whether you’re starting fresh, seeking to rebrand, or simply looking for guidance in maintaining and walking in the kingdom standards —know that it’s possible. You can thrive in the modeling industry and still uphold the standards of the Kingdom. Every gift God gives us can be used to glorify Him, and that’s exactly what I intend to do

Kiara , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a model re-entering the industry after a purposeful break, I bring not only experience but also a renewed sense of direction and passion. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to walk the runway for incredible talents such as Meagan Good and Rio Summers during The Model Experience. My work has also extended across various campaigns—including skin and haircare brands—as well as music videos, digital commercials, and other media platforms.
Over the years, I’ve gained extensive knowledge both as an independently represented model and while signed with agencies. This journey has equipped me with a deep understanding of the modeling industry—its opportunities, challenges, and the often-overlooked nuances that can make or break a new model’s experience.
That’s what inspired me to begin developing a line of eBooks designed to help aspiring and established models alike. These resources are not only intended to provide practical guidance on navigating the modeling world but, as the Lord leads, also to encourage others in their personal faith journeys within this space.
The first eBook in this series, which is set to release very soon, is titled “The Basic Model Manual.” It’s a comprehensive beginner’s guide that breaks down the foundational elements of modeling—from understanding the different types of modeling, to preparing for castings, building your portfolio, and more. It’s the perfect starting point for anyone curious about entering the industry or seeking direction on where they best fit.
This is just the beginning. I have four more eBooks in development, each focusing on different areas of the industry—from branding and professionalism to runway etiquette and maintaining integrity in a competitive environment.
My goal is to equip the next generation of models with the tools, wisdom, and confidence they need to thrive—both professionally and personally. I’m truly excited to share everything I’ve learned, and I can’t wait to see how others grow through these resources.
If you’re ready to take your first step into the modeling world—or looking to refresh your approach with clarity and purpose—be sure to stay connected. “The Basic Model Manual” is coming soon, and I invite you to join me on this journey of faith, fashion, and fearless pursuit of purpose.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most transformative lessons I’ve had to unlearn was the belief that my journey should mirror someone else’s. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with drawing inspiration from others — in fact, I’ve learned a great deal by observing, listening to stories, taking advice, and even taking classes led by those who’ve succeeded in the path I’m pursuing.
But somewhere along the way, I began to assume that if I followed their exact steps, my outcome would look the same. That mindset, though unintentional, began to limit how I viewed my own unique path.
Over time, I came to understand that while there is tremendous value in seeking wisdom, asking questions, and learning from those ahead of you, it’s equally important to embrace the individuality of your own calling. The way the Lord chooses to write your story — even within the same field — will be distinct, personal, and purposefully different. And that’s not only okay — it’s powerful.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The truth is, everything I’ve included in these eBooks is information I deeply wish I had known at the very start of my modeling journey — from navigating casting calls and knowing what to expect, to understanding the importance of having the right type of headshots for your specific modeling category, to learning how contracts work and how agencies truly operate. These are all lessons I had to learn the hard way.
Each eBook, starting with this first one, The Basic Model Manual, is filled with the kind of knowledge and insight that could have saved me a great deal of money, time, and emotional stress had someone shared it with me early on. That’s exactly why I created this — to be the resource I didn’t have, and to help others step into their journey with clarity, confidence, and preparation.
