We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kianna Daye. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kianna below.
Kianna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
“What a journey it’s been!” I started creating content in 2017 with nothing but a hungry heart, an iPhone, and a deep love for discovering the best bites and hidden gems across North Carolina and beyond. What began as casually snapping food photos and sharing them with friends quickly turned into a passion for storytelling, connecting with local foodies, and highlighting spots that truly deserved the spotlight.
Most of what I’ve learned came through trial and error. I jumped right into learning the ins and outs of social media, studied creators I admired, and discovered that experience really is the best teacher. Every post taught me something new what worked, what didn’t, and what truly engaged people.
Looking back, I wish I had asked for help sooner. There are so many generous creators in this space, and building community instead of trying to do it all alone is a total game changer.
The most essential skills on this journey have been storytelling, consistency, and relationship building, especially with restaurant owners, fellow creators, and my audience. People love food, but it’s the human connection behind it that really resonates.
Of course, there have been challenges. Self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and burnout still show up from time to time. It’s easy to compare yourself to others or feel discouraged when growth is slow. But I’m still learning every single day and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Kianna, and I’m the creator behind @wandereat_repeat which was previously @delishdish_foodie. I am a food and lifestyle brand I started in 2016 out of a genuine love for exploring restaurants, trying new cuisines, and sharing those experiences with others. My journey with food started early; I was eating sushi at just eight years old and always gravitated toward bold, diverse flavors. Thanks to my parents, I was introduced to a wide range of restaurants growing up, which shaped the open-minded palate I have today.
DelishDish began as a passion project, just me sharing my food adventures online but over time, it evolved into a trusted source for food lovers looking for honest recommendations and hidden gems throughout North Carolina and beyond. My motto is “wherever my fork takes me,” and that really sums up the heart of what I do. I create content that highlights everything from local mom-and-pop spots to unforgettable dishes I discover while traveling.
What sets my work apart is that it’s rooted in authenticity. I don’t create for trends or algorithms. I create because I truly love food and believe in the power of sharing great experiences. I focus on storytelling, capturing the atmosphere and soul of a restaurant, not just the plate in front of me. I also take pride in supporting small businesses and amplifying the voices behind the food.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built, food lovers who trust my recommendations and appreciate the honesty and heart behind every post. At the end of the day, I’m just someone who truly loves to eat, explore, and share, and I feel incredibly grateful to turn that passion into something that helps others discover the joy of food.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, my mission has always been rooted in sharing the joy of food and helping people discover amazing places they might not have found on their own. Whether it’s a tucked-away taco spot, a family-owned sushi bar, or a new restaurant with a bold concept, I genuinely love uncovering hidden gems and giving them the spotlight they deserve.
For me, food is more than just eating, it’s a way to connect with culture, community, and creativity. My goal is to inspire people to try something new, support local businesses, and explore the world through their taste buds. I want my content to feel approachable, honest, and fun, like you’re getting a recommendation from a friend who genuinely loves what they do.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Definitely. One of the biggest moments I had to pivot was during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many content creators in the food and lifestyle space, everything changed almost overnight. I had built my page around the joy of going out, exploring new restaurants, and sharing in-person dining experiences but suddenly, that just wasn’t possible.
