Khristin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If I could go back in time I would still wait to start my Comedy career. My Comedy career started after a series of events that nearly caused me to take my own life. I had been through so much emotionally and felt suppressed in ever area of my world. I had a truly spiritual experience that pushed me to even start Comedy. I know I started it when I was supposed No sooner, No later.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started doing comedy in 2019 and wrote a book I self-published in 2020 called ‘I Don’t know her’ on Amazon, after a life altering secret was revealed. Although it was my healing journey in 2018 after I considered ending my life that got me on the path to comedy. The amazing work I did with the ‘Healing wheel’ a therapy group that focuses on the mental health of black women. saved my life and started me on a true journey of self-discovery, helping me to find my true origins, and finding a talent I never thought I had. Everything I did during this time was to simply try it. I learned to stop suppressing myself and who I wanted to be. I started saying yes to all the things I ever wanted to do but told myself I couldn’t. I’ve been going nonstop ever since, determined to spread joy with this talent I’ve been blessed with. I have seen first-hand how laughter can heal, and help you cope in the heaviest of times. This motivates me to keep sharing my gift and making a difference in my own way.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I find it most rewarding when I’ve made someone’s day, week, month and/or year. I’ve had people tell me Thanks and them explain how things had been so hard and it had been so long since they had a good laugh, and that they appreciated me for giving them that level of joy again. Thinking about it as I answer this question I find myself smiling and reliving the joy it created in me to have helped them. Hearing someone say “that’s what I needed” and letting out a deep exhale. The women yelling, “girl I almost peed on myself, I love you” it’s an awesome feeling. Comedy has helped me live in my purpose by allowing me to make people happy in healthy way and I happily accept the task.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My Goal/Mission is to spread love and joy through laughter. To travel the world and use my words to help heal people.
