We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kheri Favela a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kheri, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
legacy lĕg′ə-sē
noun
Money or property given to another by will.
Something handed down from an ancestor or a predecessor or from the past: synonym: heritage.
An individual who is either an applicant to an educational institution or a matriculated student and is the child of an alumna or alumnus.
When you speak of Legacy I think you have to consider what definition of legacy you’re building. For me, I want to instill in my children the drive and will to never give up, it’s not just about creating a business for them to take over, or an inheritance for them to get… It’s about teaching them how to replicate business minds for the future. The American dream is about having the freedom of time and ability to build and make it on your own, and we do not teach our kids to do that anymore. We don’t teach them that times will be hard, and you’ll want to give up but you can’t.
I hope to be remembered as someone who they can say never gave up, always continued to try even if it was by a different avenue. Someone who loved fiercely, freely and accepted all as they are.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So I got into the Spray tan industry because I was a tanning addict. For years I went to a tanning bed, almost daily. Once I had children, I knew that I wanted to take better care of myself internally and externally and the tanning bed was no longer a priority. But, I still wanted that gorgeous tan, after time I tried a few booth tans and knew that I had to find something better. This led me to airbrush spray tanning. After 20+ years in the Beauty care industry, I knew that I wanted to offer something special for my clients, a hands on approach to their glo-ing skin. This may be through their customized color, or skin treatments with their spray tans. I custom blend every part of my clients’ body. to give the most natural spray tan- orange and splotchy is never an option at Exotic Glo.
I’m most proud of being able to offer my custom service to all clients, I do not discriminate from genders or mobility. I will make accommodations for any client to get a beautiful tan.
I’ve also created a line of Natural body care products to support the longevity of your Exotic Glo available to all clients.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I choose to build my audience on Social Media organically through networking, both online and in person. You want to create interaction, decide your target market. And just don’t be afraid to go for it!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
So many amazing & inspiring people out there to follow now… One of my favorites is Gary Vaynerchuk, Jab, Jab, Jab. Righthook. It just explains about how to post in a world where the feed is saturated with people trying to sell.. Post in a way that builds your presence with your audience, not just your product.
