Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Khandeeja Murray. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Khandeeja , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my business Trapped in Colour all started at a place in my life where I was grieving, suffering from depression and anxiety, & dealing with post-partum depression. I was sitting in my living room one morning and said to myself I’m going to make lipgloss & get into the esthetics industry. Every day I was getting up playing with colors & mixing colors to see what I came up with. I started to realize that I was coming out of my funk and that making/mixing colors was genuinely making me happy. I had found my passion! I also got up to register for Esthetics school because I was into skincare. My overall mission for Trapped In Colour is to create a safe place and spread joy to others who are experiencing depression, anxiety, post-partum, and grieving to use my tools as an outlet so that when they look in the mirror they feel good about themselves.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Khandeeja Murray. I am a wife and mother of two. I got into the Spa industry due to my passion for skincare and cosmetics. I am a Licensed traveling esthetician who specializes in corrective skincare for example hyperpigmentation, acne, and breakouts. Products I handmade are vegan-based, cruelty-free lip glosses, lip balms, lip oils, and lip scrubs. What sets me apart from others is that I’m passionate about what I do, when you love what you do you don’t feel like your work is forced. The most thing I’m proud of is my clients trust my expertise with their skin and my lip care cosmetics. The main thing I want my clients and potential clients to know is that they are safe in my care, I don’t look to be famous or popular, I look for results meaning I want my work to speak for itself. My website for lip care products is www.trappedincolour.com
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is word-of-mouth.

Networking and forming relationships with clients help me build a reputation within the market.
