We recently connected with Khaliah and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Khaliah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I am extremely happy and grateful to be able to be in the position to be a business owner . I wouldn’t have it any other way , I’ve been on my own working since the age of 15 years old and I’ve worked at places like taco hello , big lots , forever 21 and I never got fulfillment from working a 9-5 . Even my years as a dancer I didn’t get that fulfillment , I always felt like something was missing and I had a bigger purpose in life . I always knew eventually God would show me the way when it was my time . 5 years as a entrepreneur has grown me not only mentally but spiritually and financially. I have the freedom I feel I would of never been able to accomplished if I had stay where I was years ago .
Khaliah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I remember sitting in the dressing room at a club I worked at In North Carolina as a dancer and thinking to myself is this it ? What can I do to better myself not only that but to inspire others and do my work here on earth because I knew I was not out here to do what I was doing at that time forever . I started writing in my journal every night a plan and where I would like to be 7 years from now . And from that day forward I started crossing each I had listed one by one , goal by goal . I finished school I saved up my money and invested every single dollar to the point I was broke into my business and goals . The money didn’t matter to me anymore it was the purpose I craved for . My soul felt and knew it was more for me to do and I took action . I let go of toxic friends family and associates I stopped drinking I stopped going out , I started working out praying , meditating and grounding myself to become a better person so that I could attract better . I also knew new levels came with new devils but I was always up for challenge . I not only offer services for men and women to help them feel their best I provide a environment where all is welcome and my clients don’t just feel like another buck . I build professional relationships with my clients and build professional connections with others outside of my establishment as well .
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I definitely had to unlearn was pleasing everyone , definitely my biggest downfall . I had to understand and except that not everyone is for you and it’s not my job to please everyone . What’s for me will be and come to me .
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2021 I was working at the peek with my business and working on my second location with honeyglow v spa , I was 5 months pregnant and come to find out our son had a genetic disorder which resulted in me having a stillbirth. I was so broken and down and wanted to give up on everything I had work so hard for until I gathered my self and realized this isn’t how my story end so I opened my store front location in North Carolina and pushed through it . Continuing a professional and clean environment for my clients because I know they not only dependent on me but because it made me happy and gave me hope to push forward knowing that even though my husband and I lost our baby I still had more purpose here to finish and that my story could one day inspire others . That no matter what obstacles are thrown your way continue to push through them and keep your strength with God .
