We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Khaleb Harvey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Khaleb below.
Khaleb, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Purchasing our own studio equipment and a space to comfortably work in, is my best investment. We are free to work whenever we want, for as long as we want.. Plus, we can share our space with others for collaboration. Making upgrades over time is key, since we couldn’t buy everything at once. Knowing what our goals for the music helped figure out what was most important at the start.
This thought process of creating things myself has lead me to the early stages of creating my clothing brand. Building concepts and signature styles I plan to bring to life one day. I’m starting with building a solid foundation first.

Khaleb, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was attending GVSU when I started making music with my roommates. We decided early on that we needed to buy studio equipment and use our home space to save money. After dropping my first song, “Born to Be”, in February ‘22, I released my first project called “Transcendent” in October of ‘22. 12 songs made in reflection of my life and who I’m becoming. Now I’ve grown passionate about more than just the music. Im super into fashion so im going to be presenting my apparel line soon. Im excited to present something different that accentuates the music. Most likely the brand will be called, The Don Kenny, with both a streetwear & a signature side. I want people to wear something that represents the music and how it makes them feel.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
One thing I think is tough is that its never really about the money. Self-satisfaction for me comes from waking up and doing things that make me feel fulfilled, especially working. My time feels fulfilled when I spent the day shooting video content or making music, etc. It also is fulfilling to struggle a few days to create something in a rutt. It’s the part of the journey that makes you appreciate the kick ass days. I don’t waste a single day doing things I don’t want to anymore. Much of that comes from a creative lifestyle.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
While I don’t know how to own one or create one just yet, I understand the potential value. I have a few ideas I think could take off to create revenue for independent artists. Full songs or 8/16 Bar verses could easily be sold as NFTs if done correctly. Or selling partial ownerships of songs and what not to your community of listeners. I’ve heard a lot of things can be done with it to help independent creatives.
