We recently connected with Khairi Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Khairi, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I professionally worked as a multimedia producer for many years for companies like ESPN and Spotify learning the business. Since 2022 I had a strong desire to branch out and start my own business but because of fear, conventional wisdom and zero precedent I never followed through. Unfortunately in 2023 I fell victim to massive layoffs at Spotify and had to figure out what to do next. In the summer of 2023 Thr3 Will LLC was officially born and I got right to work! Thr3 Will is named after my 3 children Khairi, Makai, and Skyla Williams.
Khairi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I learned about partnerships naturally by working in production because it’s such a constant search for synergy. At Spotify we made great partnerships with Netflix, Disney and others based on working on projects together. I also learned about selling advertising space from doing radio in NYC. All of these skills prepared me to build outstanding partnerships between my Juan Ep is Life& Bag Fuel and Manscaped, Blue Chew, HBCU Classic, New York Posse and others. It has truly prepared me to take my business to the next level.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being a creative offers you a liberty and a freedom unlike anything else you can ever do professionally. You are allowed to take a blank canvas and tinker with until you create something amazing.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I was more comfortable asking for forgiveness instead of permission early on.
