Khadizah , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Kay Allure was created during the beginning of my spiritual and healing stage. I always knew I wanted to work for myself. I spent quite some time working on myself inside and out. After becoming a mom I sort of lost my self confidence and wanted to fall back in love with myself. Fashion was also a passion I had. While doing my inner work I was able to discover different talents such as fashion designing, candle making, so on. While indulging in creativity I was also able to perfect my craft and do things that allowed me to express my self love in a creative way and also help other women like myself find their confidence.
Khadizah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I absolutely love creativity. I am a self taught fashion designer. It all started with me going through body changes after giving birth to my daughter and going through a toxic relationship. Once I learned how to sew I began making different things such as lingerie and other sexy wear. Although I didn’t like how my body changed I loved how I was able to take my vision and bring it to life. My pieces made me feel so confident. After about 4 years in the sewing game I began making special occasion dresses. My clients loved that I was able to bring their visions to life no matter what the occasion was.
My love for healing, and relaxation got me interested in candle making but not your average smell good candle. I specialize in massage oil candles. My candles are made with organic essential oils that has amazing benefits such as calming the mind and body, easing aches and pains, and setting the mood whether it’s for you and your loved one or just you enjoying a relaxing evening. I then ventured more into my creativity and started experimenting with resin. I began making handmade tealight candle holders and centerpieces that brings any living or office space to life. I will also be launching my very own waist bead line March 1st. My waist beads are hand crafted I will have sets with healing crystals and also affirmations. To waist beads screams I AM DIVINE! They have great benefits such as adding sexual attraction, style, symbolism of heritage, and posture. I strongly believe in every woman tapping into her divine feminine era. I think it’s important for us to indulge in self love and to remind ourselves that there is no love like self love.
My dream is that whenever a woman comes across or hears my business name “Kay Allure” they know they are destined to find something that will help them treat their selves or find that spark that they are looking for. I am mostly proud that I took the time, and courage to indulge in myself and my talents. I want my potential clients/followers to know that my brand is a brand that allows you to indulge in your self and I am here to help women water flaws.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn holding onto traumas and grudges. I learned over the years that in order to show up as the best version of yourself you must take care of yourself and your heart and that includes forgiving and forgetting. Holding on to negativity slows down your growth and healing. And sometimes we have to go within and figure out what it is that we must change about ourselves.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I am still learning how to step outside of my shell and comfort zone. Just putting myself out there and talking to people and networking and brought me different clients and opportunities.
