We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keyuna Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keyuna below.
Keyuna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I ever took was leaving my hometown to start fresh in a new city. I didn’t know anyone, had no safety net, and had to rebuild my life from scratch. It was scary and uncertain, but I knew staying meant I’d never grow. Moving pushed me out of my comfort zone, taught me resilience, and opened doors I never would have had if I stayed.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Keyuna Anderson, an entrepreneur, author, inventor and advocate who’s passionate about helping people, especially youth, overcome challenges. Growing up, I faced loss, trauma, and tough circumstances, and those experiences inspired me to create ways to help others break cycles and build resilience.
I wrote The Secrets of the Black Family: Breaking Generational Curses, which shares my story and aims to inspire others to rise above their struggles. I’m also working on projects in youth empowerment and the beauty industry, creating solutions that are practical and relatable.
What sets me apart is that I’ve lived through challenges myself, so everything I do comes from real understanding. I’m proud of turning my experiences into tools and stories that give people confidence, hope, and the belief that they can overcome whatever life throws at them.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn was thinking I had to stay in my shell and be shy. Growing up, I was used to keeping to myself, avoiding new people, and playing it safe. But I realized that staying closed off was holding me back from opportunities, growth, and meaningful connections. I had to push myself to get out, meet new people, and trust others more. It wasn’t easy at first, but learning to put myself out there opened doors, helped me build relationships, and taught me that real growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that really shows my resilience is when I decided to start building my businesses on my own with almost no money and no team. I was juggling school, work, and personal responsibilities, but I refused to wait for the “perfect” time or someone else to give me a chance. Every step, from researching, planning, and reaching out to potential collaborators, to just figuring out how to get my ideas off the ground, had to be done by me, and often with limited resources. There were moments it felt impossible, but I kept grinding, learning from mistakes, and finding creative ways to make things happen. That experience taught me that resilience isn’t just about surviving..it’s about creating opportunities for yourself, even when no one else believes in them.
