We were lucky to catch up with Keyocsha Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Keyocsha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The Tailored Experience is all about tailoring the person from the inside out. At The Tailored Experience, we strive to help our clients identify their personal style and build their confidence.
Keyoscha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started my passion with beauty, doing hair very young assisting my mother with her clients. Growing up, I always loved everything about hair, fashion, and makeup and took pleasure in transforming a plain outfit into a chic & stylish look only using things out of my closet. After years of loving fashion, I decided, made plans and set the goal to build a legacy of beauty. I enrolled and graduated from Paul Mitchell where I learned various skills that would take my knowledge of beauty to the next level. Over the years, I have worked hard to ensure that I know how to bring whatever my clients need, whether its hair styling, wardrobe styling, makeup, or content creation.
I am proud to have a YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook community with over 8,000 Dolls where I share styling, fashion, and beauty tips for the everyday person who wants to take their look to the next level.
My personal belief is when you look good, you feel good, and I make it my business to make sure you look and feel good. I bring to each of my clients a TAILORED EXPERIENCE from head to toe.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In the beginning of my career, I was just a traveling hair and makeup stylist. Although this was a successful career, I quickly learned that this would become expensive with the traveling and constant moving. This led to me opening a permanent studio to work out of to better serve my clients. As the time progressed and life changes occured, I pivoted and begin to branch out to movie set makeup, hair, and wardrobe. By being open to new challenges and opportunities, I was able to establish relationships that have taken my business to the next level.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Entrepreneurship wasn’t always the goal. After completing school I began my career in the Mental Healthcare field where I was able to help serve those in the community. While successfully climbing the corporate ladder, I realized that my passion /side hustle, was always pulling me in the opposite direction. For 13 years I balanced both corporate america and my own business after hours. Eventually, my side hustle became so demanding that I had no choice but to leave my 9-5 job and become an entrepreneur. While I am no longer in a office setting, I am still able to serve my community in a different light but helping my clients see their beauty from the inside out.
