Alright, Key thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Key Fitch and I have just celebrated my first year anniversary of owning a mobile bartending company, Ladies’ Shot Bartending, LLC. Ladies’ Shot Bartending services the Sarasota, Bradenton, St. Pete, and Tampa Bay areas. We are FULLY certified and insured with $2 million in General Liability coverage and $2 million in Liquor Liability coverage. Before this particular venture, however, I owned an all female gym for 9.5 years where I would host several events for my clients- providing and serving cocktails. Well once I decided to close my gym, I realized that I really missed the social aspect of my job and I needed and craved daily interaction with people. So I decided to get formal training and become certified as a bartender which then eventually led me to starting my mobile bartending company.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I strongly believe that having a good reputation in the community and being known as a gym owner in my area has definitely helped with growing my clientele for my bartending business. I was fortunate to have the gym be well attended during the years of operation. And some of the same skills that were useful in being successful in this position; the ability to talk, listen and be engaging were definitely transferrable with being a bartender with Ladies’ Shot Bartending. I also managed to create a strong social media presence over the years, particularly via FB & IG. And outside of that, I was active in my local Chambers of Commerce and various local nonprofit organizations. So it was from this networking that I was able to start the bartending business with referrals already in place. I am blessed to have come across so many wonderful people who have made Ladies’ Shot Bartending be known in Manatee & Sarasota Counties. And based on the positive interaction and reception in these places, I have standing clients now in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties as well!! My customers are now pretty much distributed equally over all of these areas, and for that I am very thankful!!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
As I mentioned above, the best source of new clients for us has been referrals from previous clients!! The bartending business is very much service based, and relies heavily on customers sharing their positive experiences!! And while I know word of mouth has definitely been one of our biggest sources of new clients, I do make sure to stay active and engaging on ALL of our social media platforms. We are constantly adding to and improving the services that we provide, and we want to make sure that is always effectively communicated!!
