Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kewayne Wadley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kewayne, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
It’s a pleasure to join you! I am so glad that you asked me this question. Of course while growing up, some things seem clear to you then. Then you begin to grow up and your perspective changes a bit. You begin to enter new realities & surround yourself with different opportunities as well as people. I wouldn’t necessarily say lost in the sauce but an array of different things begin to take place. More than ever you begin to find the answer to a lot of the questions that you’re looking for are a lot harder as well as the amount of time that you have. Along my journey I’ve been fortunate to meet many angels that have served as this reminder. “It only takes a second.” It only takes a second to make or break someone or something. A lot of times it can happen without realizing it.
When I draw or in this case write. I am not only clearing my mind but attempting to remind myself of just that. “It only takes a second.” For example I myself can easily get caught up with a task at work, or in a phone call with a close friend or with family or just attempting to do something in general. That I put everything on hold until I am done doing what I am doing. Especially with covid and the other events that have taken place over the last couple of years. To some extent we’ve all had a little time to do some much needed thinking. I’ve done a lot better in recent years as time isn’t something that should be taken for granted because in an instant you might not get that opportunity again. Even if it’s just a second I stop what I am doing to send that text message or make that call as it can truly make someone’s day.
Life is fast paced but if we’re constantly looking for time. What is it that time is looking for? There is a lot of negativity that goes on or I’ll say perspective can switch very quickly & very rarely do we put ourselves in someone else’s shoes to be considerate. All it takes is second to say “hey, just wanted to check in on you.” Or a simple thinking about you which can go in a lot of different ways and apply to a lot of different things. In essence my mission statement would be that no matter what happens or what may take place to not forget about the little things. It’s definitely about the little things.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well as you may know or not (bad joke.) My name is Kewayne Wadley and I am considered a Poetic-Storyteller. It’s a pleasure to meet you if this is our first time meeting. A little bit about what I do is share a couple of my thoughts and views on life with just a sprinkle of love on top. Okay, maybe a lot of love on top.
While we go through a situation we may think or feel that we’ve done everything right but somewhere there may be a few thoughts that tend to stick around. We may wonder if it’s something that could’ve been done better or something that could’ve been said a lot better. Hopefully that isn’t the case but just in case, I offer myself as tribute as a lot of the time I feel that way when it happens, and it is in those moments I cannot think of a single thing to say or do. No matter how abstract, I look at it as sharing my thoughts & experience or at least something that’s a bit more relatable to help navigate through.
I actually speak a lot about love and all the happiness it can bring, really as a reminder that the best things in life are free & a lot of our best moments still have not happened yet.
One of the best resources rarely brought up is having someone to not just love you, but to breathe and speak life into you is something that should never be taken for granted.
Along the way I’ve had a few friendly reminders in the form of Cammry Lapka, Alice Branch, Andre Afrielian, and Veronica Polonskaya. Who have all helped me tell a few stories by relating (after a laugh or two) and using their wonderful talents to edit and illustrate on the page. Through each stroke of the pen, mine included. It’s been fun to work alongside good friends and create something that we hope are able to take the mind away from what thought and or feeling that anyone may have and make you feel a little bit better as we’ve been there and can tell you. It does get better, or if you’re looking for something that makes you smile or just downright silly we are definitely here for that too. We sincerely hope that it serves as a reminder that everything will be alright with upcoming projects such as “Mumbo Jumbo… I Love You.” as well as “Island BAEcation.”
We are sure that it will be just as enjoyable as the last couple of projects.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I wouldn’t say completely unlearn but definitely I’ve learned to take a couple steps back and reevaluate everything. A lot of truths or a new perspective can be found each and every time. To stick to the question I’d say that when it comes to constructive criticism. Reason I say that is that I am sure that a lot of people have heard at least in some variation “Don’t focus on what anyone else has to say or do when it comes to you.” Well, I’ve discovered along the journey that there is a great divide between “in every joke there is a little truth.” and “at some point in order to lead one must be able to follow.”
There is nothing wrong with confidence, I truly believe that everyone should make friends with that word and know it’s meaning but there is a such thing as arrogance and one should know it’s meaning to not become that.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
In my honest opinion. I’d say by consistently showing up and not being afraid to fail.
