We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kevin Wathey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kevin below.
Kevin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
In marketing, business, and in life, friction kills conversions… the rise of technology has made it easier for anyone to create an online product, program, or service.
Unfortunately, or, fortunately, there are always three sides to every coin.
On one side, the rise of the entrepreneurial ethos and innovation in society is inspiring. With equal access to information and technology, the only thing stopping you from converting browsers into buyers is yourself… as equal opportunity to build the business of your dreams is now ubiquitous.
On the flip side, we have a growing number of individuals claiming to be online ‘coaches’ and ‘course creators’… or even worse, self-proclaimed ‘Guru’s’ who have a singular focus, themselves. They’re giving a growing industry and a wonderful opportunity for the masses to rewrite their story a very bad reputation… and it’s creating a ripple effect across the world wide web.
Finally, there are ‘impact-driven’ entrepreneurs making waves in online coaching and course creation. These individuals often have previous business experience and because of it, they understand that to succeed in all areas of life you must fall in love with your client… not your product, program, or service.
It’s often a counterintuitive way of thinking… the assumption is that a product-focused obsession would produce the greatest results. The reality is it’s not the product whose life you entered the business to transform, it’s your clients.
This shift in perception is what has made the Robbins’s, the Bransons’s, and the Winfreys’s so ridiculously successful… a results-based, client-based obsession. While I’m an advocate of ‘practice until you become it,’ you must be willing to do the internal work first.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, I’ve had the great fortune to be able to follow my heart in all areas of my life. Growing up I wanted to be a professional Ice Hockey player, and I was lucky enough to get to play 2 years of junior hockey.
Following my hockey career on the east coast, I chose to dive head-first into the world of acting. This led me to sign with an agent in Los Angeles, another in Arizona, and to begin working for a Shakespeare company.
Enter an ultimatum from my father… I chose to enroll at Arizona State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. In my second year at university, I had the opportunity to travel and perform in Bali, Indonesia. A trip that would change my life forever.
Graduation came, and like so many others I entered the corporate world… It turns out theatrical performance doesn’t pay very well. Hyatt Hospitality taught me what caring for others to be their best means, and I model that ethos in my own life.
The story further develops with the introduction of mindfulness… something I never thought I’d say. It’s what has allowed me to facilitate international retreats across the globe… transforming the lives of my clients in the process.
These experiences have granted me a very unique opportunity… to become a sought-after life and business strategy to entrepreneurs across the globe.
Have you ever had to pivot?
As a fledgling business owner in 2018, I had a dream. The dream was the ability to experience all the world has to offer and transform the lives of others in tandem. In 2019, I did exactly that. I led retreats to Sedona, Bali, Costa Rica… the experiences were memorable, but the participant transformations were extraordinary.
Prepped, primed, and ready to tackle 2020, the world had different plans and travel was out of the question. A common theme for so many business owners, it left us with a binary decision. Will you be the victim of your circumstances or the victor?
I chose the latter and pivoted by building two new divisions within our company… Course Creation Consulting & Online Marketing.
We were able to grow our business 800% during a time when most chose to contract. We chose to not let external circumstances define us and to become the victor… never the victim.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Online client acquisition is actually rather simple. Like the best recipes, it requires a few very specific ingredients… with the right combination you can create a dish that brings people back like clockwork.
First is a deep understanding of the customer or client you’re most qualified to serve. Without this, you’ll be throwing your spaghetti at the to see what sticks. This is great for casting a wide net, but the Moby Dick’s you’re looking to catch need spears.
Second is a Priceless Premium Offer… an initial hook so valuable that you’re able to cut through the white noise of the marketplace. Do this right, and lead with value, you’ll have more contacts to contact than time in the day. Learn how to create one here: https://bit.ly/35hPAqJ
This is where most drop the ball. Converting contacts into clients, browsers into buyers requires a specific set of skills… skills that would make Liam Neeson proud. These skills form a repeatable system turning your business into a client-getting machine.
The final and most important piece of the puzzle is something that often gets overlooked. Lucky for you, it’s going to be your secret ingredient… a community.
A connected community of the clients you’re most qualified to serve does many things. It creates your own garden of dream ingredients and allows you to water them at will. Most important to the business, it positions you as a thought-leader and expert in your market. Learn how to monetize your Facebook Group here: https://bit.ly/3G37ESh
There’s no need to overcomplicate the process. Give more value to your dream clients than anyone else in the marketplace and guess what… you and your business will win!
