We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kevin Sligh II. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kevin below.
Alright, Kevin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think success comes from truly understanding yourself—how you react in different business and personal situations—and learning to navigate them effectively. Experience and failure are huge drivers of success because we must fail before succeeding. If everyone succeeded on the first try, would that even count as success? How would it be measured?
Success looks different for everyone, but for me, it’s about overcoming challenges that once made me fearful of the outcome. I’ve learned that fear is often the biggest roadblock to growth. The more I push past it, the more I realize that success isn’t about a single moment—it’s about constantly striving to improve, learning from every attempt, and staying committed to being better.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Kevin, a videographer and creative storyteller passionate about capturing authentic moments. My journey started at the Community College of Philadelphia, where I studied acting, but as I transitioned to Temple University, I found myself drawn to video production. I realized that filmmaking combined my love for performance, storytelling, and visual creativity, leading me to build a career in video production, branding, and content creation.
Through All In Media, I offer full-scale video production services—from concept development to final edits—helping brands and creators tell their stories in a way that connects with their audience. I’ve worked with prominent names like Nike, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and 14th And Market, as well as independent entrepreneurs looking to elevate their brand presence. Whether it’s a commercial, documentary-style piece, or social media content, I focus on delivering authentic, compelling, and strategic visuals.
What sets me apart is my approach to storytelling. I don’t just shoot and edit—I dive deep into the purpose behind a project. I want to understand the message, the emotion, and the impact it’s meant to have. That’s why I take the time to ensure each project isn’t just visually appealing but resonates with its intended audience.
I’m most proud of the moments when my work helps people see themselves or their brand in a new light. Whether it’s a small business owner realizing their story is worth telling or a company seeing a fresh way to engage their audience, those moments remind me why I do this.
Anyone looking to work with me should know that I value collaboration, authenticity, and creative excellence. My goal is always to produce work that not only looks good but also moves people—whether through a short film, a brand identity, or a video that tells a story worth remembering.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was that working in a vacuum was the best way to create. I used to believe that true originality came from working alone and that the most authentic work was born from isolation. Even back when I was acting, I’d run lines with recordings of myself reading the other parts instead of practicing with a scene partner.
But over time, I realized that creativity thrives in collaboration. Everyone brings a unique interpretation and perspective, and that’s what makes working as a community so powerful. Engaging with others challenges your way of thinking and helps you grow—both creatively and personally. Being open to different viewpoints expands your understanding and makes the work stronger. Now, I embrace the idea that great ideas don’t happen in isolation; they happen when you allow yourself to be influenced, challenged, and inspired by those around you.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Looking back, the most significant resource I wish I had tapped into earlier was the creative community around me. Tying back to the lesson I had to unlearn—working in a vacuum—I thought that creating alone was the best way to stay original. But the reality is that having a network of creatives to learn from, grow with, and share ideas with is invaluable.
Being part of a community pushes you to improve and gives you the space to be yourself as a creative. It’s where you find inspiration, new perspectives, and support from people who understand the challenges and wins of the journey. If I had realized this sooner, I would have leaned into collaboration earlier instead of figuring everything out alone. Now, I know that the right community is one of the most valuable creative resources.
