We recently connected with Kevin Scott and have shared our conversation below.
Kevin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
I do both, I detail at my house & I also bought a trailer with a 300 gallon tank, generator, large air compressor. That helps me make it more convenient for the customers that have a busy life and keeping up with their car that most constantly use or kids destroy the back seats. Nextiers mission is to make life for our customers a bit easier and take some stress away. There is no better feeling than walking out to your car after a long day and it looks and smells new.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I grew up around cars most of my life. My dad builds classic cars and at a young age dirty chrome bothered me I didn’t like seeing a nice classic car pull up in my dad’s drive way with dirty chrome. So while my dad’s friends visited him I would go out in the drive way and polish the chrome. Eventually his friends started stopping by on purpose cause they knew I couldn’t let it leave like that. As I got older I got more into car shows and getting cars ready to hopefully win awards. I learned to have a sharp eye for the small errors and have to correct them before I can walk away. At this point and time Nextier Auto Spa sponsors 3 car show cars they win awards every show, and 2 drag cars that could also be show cars for how clean they are.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started my business by selling cars I’ve bought, sold and traded cars since I was a teenager I’m on my 163rd car at the moment. I had a very clean 94 civic hatchback all original that I wanted to keep for my kids to enjoy cause cars then where so simple yet enjoyable to drive. I had this idea and tired or working for someone else so I told my wife my idea and that night I went for it and sold it for more than I thought I’d ever get. I then also had a for explorer I just kept incase family came to town and needed a car. I sold that within a few days after the civic and put all my money I gained into this business and then many check from working at the railroad still to build up and make sure that I’m prepared to go all in.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think most people that know me will agree that I’m not a quitter, tell me I can’t and I’ll show you I can. I was diagnosed with MS at the age of 22 by 25 was I needing help with a wheelchair. At 27 I walked away from doctors and meds and started studying nutrition and working out. 3 years later I was sponsored by a supplement company and in body building magazines within the next few years. When my mind is focused on something I won’t give up, I’ll give it my all. Ive been med free going on 15 years and neurologists still are baffled. Cars are my passion and making something that was used and left dirty, to making it look new again is a joy and so much satisfaction for me.
