We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kevin Russell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kevin , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Yeah, there have been a few!
But the biggest by far has to be a huge “enlightenment” experience I had that changed everything for me.
It was the fall of 2019, and I was a UI/UX designer at the time. I had been in the digital design field for almost 20 years, and I was living what was for me a fulfilling professional life.
I was also diligently working on myself to heal and release past traumas and faulty beliefs that were getting in the way of my physical and mental health, and that were negatively impacting my marriage.
The more work I did on myself, the better I felt, so I just kept at it until one November afternoon, I had this amazingly transformative experience where I reconnected with my “higher self”.
What I heard in my own voice, in my own head, was, “Oh my gosh, I’m so glad you made it! We are going to have so much fun together!”
And what I felt was such pure unconditional love and acceptance that I was laugh-crying because the feeling was too much to contain.
It was such an abrupt trajectory shift that I drove straight to my wife’s office and told her everything that had just happened, and that I couldn’t do design anymore – I needed to take what had just happened and help others heal like I had. It was a massive leap of faith/inner knowing for both of us!
From there, all my natural extra-sensory abilities came online, I wrote a book on quantum consciousness, enlightenment, and how to unwind the triggers of life in 2 1/2 weeks, and I began to guide clients on their own journies of transformation and reconnection.
If there is something others can take from my journey it would be:
Heal yourself so you can heal your world – Taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do for you, your family, your friends, and your world. You are the most important person in your life. If you are depleted, everything else falls apart. It’s important that you put your oxygen mask on first.
Have a clear view of where you want to go, and stay unattached to the specific steps to get there – Attachment and resistance are two key factors that keep us stuck in life. Going towards something you want without attachment to the specific outcomes, or needing to know every step of the journey is a power move that will get you where you want to be faster.
Stay open and curious about the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and reactions you experience – thinking we know, or that we have the answer can keep us stuck, limited, sick, and miserable in life – challenge your beliefs and your thoughts, stay unattached to the labels you identify with and roles you play in life. The more we question what we think we know, the more we can arrive at the authentic answers we’ve been looking for.
Kevin , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So now I now work with clients as a Subconscious Transformation & Break-Through Guide, Quantum Consciousness & Spiritual Coach, and Holistic Somatic Healer.
The beautiful thing about working at the subconscious level, is that the tools we use are universally applicable. Whether it is healing past trauma, releasing fears or transforming bad habits, healing relationships, aligning the internal world to attract more success in life, getting unstuck, or eliminating negative/limiting beliefs, we can do it all when we work at the subconscious level.
Most people work with us to: improve emotional health and relationships, for personal growth – to get unstuck or unblocked, for more job/career/success, to heal the mind/body, and/or for trauma recovery.
One thing I think sets me apart from others is that my sessions are very much client-led. Each one of us already has the answers we are looking for on the inside, and I help guide the people I work with to connect with those answers to experience greater peace, freedom, healing, and presence in life. It is more about guiding clients back to their own natural state of healed wholeness that has been waiting beneath the subconscious junk of life the whole time.
Another thing that sets me apart, and is that the only reason I am doing this work, is that I’ve walked the walk. I have been to the deepest, darkest depths, and highest heights on my own healing and expansion journey. So I guide clients with that knowledge and experience.
The things I am most proud of are the results clients that work with me experience. A “bio-hacker” client who uses the Oura ring shared that her Oura Readiness Score jumped 18 points after just one session when the most she’d ever been able to move the needle before was 6-7 points (and that was with maximum effort)!
Another client, who worked with us in our Transformation Program, healed her marriage (late last year her husband had moved out, and now their relationship is better than ever!) and grew her business after working with us for 6 months.
We also took a client from being terrified of public speaking to getting on stage, MC a 3-day professional event, and speaking on a panel with ease after a single session.
Clients have said that a single session can be like 6 months of therapy, and the modalities we use are 20 years ahead of what is available in the mainstream.
Some people might have questions or uncertainty about this type of work, but it’s a really low bar to get started. You just need to be at least open to the processes of working with the subconscious, and ready to experience real changes in life. As long as you are really ready for change, and open to this approach, you have everything you need to jump in!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Oh man, so many again!
From getting rejected by almost 100 publishers when first shopping my manuscript, to receiving vitriol, hatred, and death threats on social media, getting rejected from TED talks, and being banned on YouTube, there has been some rough water to navigate on this journey to be sure.
The thing about resilience is that after we “do the work”, we aren’t praying, hoping, or wishing for things to work out. We even move beyond faith and belief to a bedrock knowing that what we are doing is good, it is needed in the world, and that success is waiting for us to just NOT quit.
So much of success centers around positive, consistent behaviors, and habits, and just continuing to show up after everyone else has quit.
I love the line “Never stop never stopping” from this Andy Samberg movie Popstar. They use it tongue in cheek, but the double negative is a great and ultimately positive message.
Working on myself and eliminating fear from my experience enabled me to operate from that place of knowing, where greater resilience is just a natural by-product of that effort.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
That I was unworthy.
“Unworthy” was my core negative belief from childhood that was keeping me from experiencing greater success in business, greater success in my marriage, and greater peace, presence, and freedom in my life.
My mind/body system learned and habituated this feeling because, growing up, my perception of my relationship with my dad was one of conditional love. I got positive attention when I performed well in school, sports, heck even with my chores! But outside of that attention, I always felt distance between us.
As I got older this early experience transformed into different symptoms:
– overgiving/saying yes when I meant no
– feeling like if anything was wrong it was my fault (self-blame)
– feeling that I was the one who had to be good to keep others happy
– not standing up for myself
– feeling shame, guilt, sadness, and then anger when my wife was unhappy (internalizing her experience, even when her unhappiness had nothing to do with me)
A lot of the work I did on myself centered around these themes, and it took time and patience to really get through the ocean’s worth of unworthiness that I had been drowning in.
Most of the wounds we wear and the mountains we carry originate in early childhood, so the biggest lesson for me was go back to the beginning.
Get beyond the surface symptom to the deeper message or need. Go back to address what created the symptoms in the first place and that is where true healing lives.
