We recently connected with Kevin Moreno and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I’m a Filmmaker/Digital Content Creator originally from Miami and now based out of Orlando, FL.
Learn, Travel, and Inspire, is the foundation for what I do. I enjoy the happiness of Inspiring people through my films, traveling to new places, and sharing what I’ve learned with other filmmakers.
Some of my experiences include working with SA Company, Zimba Whitening, Bones Coffee, Fight Club, Mountaineer Brand, Drip Fit, and Jypsea Local just to name a few.
I am married to my lovely beautiful amazing wife, Vanessa. I would be here today if it wasn’t for my wife.
My inner filmmaker was activated at a young age after watching Jurassic Park. I was so interested in how the movie was made. I started buying a lot of Blu-Ray just to watch the behind-the-scenes and watch the Audio Commentary with the Writer/Director. I was just blown away at how they did the movie. So, I started my film career at Miami-Dade college, I got my AA then I was accepted to go to New York Film Academy in Los Angeles to get my BFA in filming. I was running low on money and got lucky then opened up the same school in South Beach, FL so we moved back to Miami, so I can finish film school there and save some money. I couldn’t thank my wife enough to help me on this journey and take care of me when I was in film school for almost 4 years without working a real job. She really believed in me and that I can make it and I cherish every moment that she allowed me to pursue my career in film.
During my BFA I was freelancing plus going to film school. After getting my BFA, I embarked in Film, Ad Digital Content, and still freelancing until I opened up my own Video Production business. Helping out start-up companies or brands that have been operating 5 years or over to create engaging high-end multi-platform digital experiences and aid in the development of brands. After all, video is one of the most powerful tools a business can have.
Moreover, if you’re reading this and you’re thinking about starting your own business don’t hesitate and just do it. The biggest fear everyone has is failing. I try to make business decisions with two things in mind, don’t hesitate and lead with kindness not fear. As an entrepreneur, I have many different job titles and responsibilities. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, and I feel like it’s impossible to do it all. This is why I try to remind myself not to hesitate, over thinking won’t help me reach new goals. When I lead with kindness instead of fear I allow myself the space to accept failures as a stepping stone to success. No one wants to fail or go through that; however, its just the way it is and you’ll learn and get better. Do not give up so easy keep pushing through, there will be a lot of rough patches. Be nice to everyone you meet because you never know if that person will call you for that job you want.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Yes, my wife Vanessa.
I couldn’t thank my wife enough to help me on this journey from filming school to owning our own business video production. She really believed in me and that I can make it and I cherish every moment that she allowed me to pursue my career in film.
My wife plays multiple roles in our family and takes care of everyone. Sharing her love, protective mother, and a loving wife. Yet, she remains calm through the storm and keeps everything under control. She deserves appreciation from the entire family and me for being on her toes all day. Her strength and uplift with kind and thoughtful words. So I respect, admired, and support my wife in anything that she wants to do or pursue. She and my family means the world and I can’t thank her enough for believing in me.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building a good reputation can lead you to that one job or gig you been wanting to do. It can attract better people or opportunities, command a larger salary or selling price, attain leadership roles and influence, keep loyal customers who buy more products and services, gain new customers who value a company’s standing, promote funding and better sales figures, and last lead to better market values and lower capital costs. So just be humble, work hard, be precise, post your work.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Problems are bad. It’s important to stay happy.
I’m irreparably damaged by my past.
Working hard leads to success.
Success is the opposite of failure.
It matters what people think of me.
We should think rationally about our decisions.
