We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kevin Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kevin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
It was a huge risk to establish Courage Medicine as a practice. Providing harm reduction treatment and sexual health services is an unpopular healthcare services. As a new non-profit that started February of 2020, COVID lockdown provided the first huge problem. Many others came soon after. Through it all, the Courage Medicine team kept working and focusing on individual care. Courage Medicine became recognized as a Center of Excellence for Opioid Use Disorder in October of 2020.

Courage Medicine focuses on treating the epidemics of opioid addiction and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans have one or more STIs? Did you know that 1 in 20 Americans has an issue with opioids? Courage Medicine has innovated new low barrier ways to provide healthcare that is effective and safe.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Easy access. Respect for patients who have been shown disrespect elsewhere in healthcare. Word of mouth and social media presence.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I am a practicing psychologist and even though most of my time is now as a healthcare administrator, I find my professional training key to my current role. I would absolutely choose the same path if I knew then what I know now.
