We were lucky to catch up with Kevin Mcgriggs recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Kevin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

the bigger the risk the higher the reward i havent taken one big risk but many. in 2017 i was looking at time and because of a record, i couldnt do much in fact the deciding factor was when i couldnt get a apartment of my own for 7yrs… i took the big risk but followed up with consistency and said i would never punch a clock again n depend on someone elses decision with the direction of my life. i have done everything to losing friends, family members, and all behind my dream and passion and that in itself is its own risk….where has it got me well i say its gotten me to places and such that many will never experience or even dream of im living my dream of being a boss!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

well i was given the name dj tell em because i dont sugar coat things i tell it like it is but also (alot dont know) i dance and when i do i tell a story so thats the other reason lol. i am a public figure, dj, booking agent, graphic designer, event host and planner, radio dj, mentor, coach and developer of independent artist, i have a coalition of djs (certified djz), im a manager for pr firm as of recent, and i run my own label and entertainment ( Certified Ent Records). i support independence as a whole but more specifically artist. i have worn the hat of a “starving artist” so i know exactly what they go thru so i took it a step further and started learning the business side more so especially after having contract dealings that were not right. i even now work with a team where we empower the independent to remain and stay independent, meaning developing and teaching a artist how to become there own boss and gain knowledge artist should know to level up and get verified/ industry ready. they call me mr. support costs nothing out here and i stand by it we all have ambitions and desires and to support is as easy as a shared post… SUPPORT COSTS NOTHING.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

i love this question because i know exactly what it takes i tell people all the time im a better promoter than dj lol. so i like to call the method the “Stay in there face” method that means plainly make them see you. Example early on in fb i would go to fb jail because i would literally share my events and or services to 50-60 groups a day lol sounds crazy but thats the type of mindset you have to set how do i get everyone to see or hear of me. i also had every major social media platform and would share to all platforms idc if its even snapchat, everyone was going to know what i did and etc. now there are other tricks as well for example hastags for instagram if i knew i made alot of post dealing with music well i would copy and paste it to my notepad and boom much quicker easier access. catching big moments in the world as they happen or in asuitable time helps views and tuner inners. i mean i could write a book on this but ione thing i tell everyone also and i do it myself. think outside of the box, then outside of that box, then even further step outside of that box…. thats how you stay relivant and ahead of the game.

closed mouths dont get fed and slow feet dont eat. i have a hunger like no other i will outwork anyone…. literally i dont know how to not be professional, consistent, vigilant, just plain hungry for success and its not the money its the level of respect and love you get for building something bigger than yourself n at the same time legitly helping others. ive quit 9-5’s for MY OWN 24/7’s
