Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kevin Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kevin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I am extremely grateful for my parents.
Growing up on a farm in rural Northwest Ohio, my sister and I were instilled with work-driven ethics and values. I started working on the farm as soon as I could walk, feeding the cattle and hogs, planting tomatoes, driving tractors, and hauling manure.
Sustaining the farm was a way of life. It was a lifestyle, it was a rite of passage.
My parents (and my grandparents) taught me how to respect myself, the land, nature, and the world around us. Collectively, they taught me not to take anything for granted, showing me how to thank the universe for the abundance of gifts it bestows upon us, showing appreciation for the opportunity to be here on this day.
My caretakers role modeled the values of hard work, discipline, consistency, dedication, kindness, compassion, gratitude, respect, and generosity. They taught me what it meant to “be a good person,” and they showed me that the most important thing in life is to live closely aligned and connected to one’s purpose.
Now, as an adult, every single day, I’m connected to my purpose. Every single day, I’m connected to my reason why, and I ensure that the way I’m moving about through this world is aligned with my higher calling.
I wouldn’t trade anything for the way I was raised, and so often, I wish I could go back to those times. They were simpler, they were profound, they were mesmerizing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Kevin Martin, a passionate coach, mentor, and advocate for self-love, empowerment, and sexual confidence. My journey into this field has been deeply personal, shaped by my upbringing on a family farm in Ohio, where I learned the value of hard work, authenticity, and staying grounded. Growing up, I was taught that mental and emotional well-being was just as important as physical health, and I’ve carried that belief into my professional life.
Over the years, I’ve discovered that embracing all aspects of myself—especially my sexuality—was one of the most powerful steps in creating a life that feels fully aligned with my values. This journey led me to establish SafeHaus Wellness Services, where I support individuals, particularly gay men, in embracing their true selves, overcoming shame, and unlocking the full potential of their lives.
At SafeHaus Wellness Services, I provide a range of products and services designed to foster personal growth, sexual confidence, and holistic wellness. My offerings include one-on-one emotional support sessions, coaching programs, and a variety of membership spaces. These spaces focus on themes like mental health, sexual empowerment, non-monogamy, spirituality, and health & wellness. Through structured courses, group coaching, and community support, I guide clients to break through barriers, reshape their personal narratives, and move forward with confidence and clarity.
I also specialize in gay sex coaching, where I help clients reclaim their sexual power, heal from shame, and step fully into their desires and sexual expression. My coaching framework is built on honesty, vulnerability, and radical self-acceptance, and it’s designed to empower clients to take full ownership of their sexual lives. My approach focuses on dismantling limiting beliefs, addressing trauma, and building confidence, so that my clients can embody their sexual freedom with pride.
The core issue I address is helping my clients move from self-doubt and shame to self-love and empowerment. Whether it’s helping someone navigate relationship dynamics, tackle feelings of inadequacy around their sexuality, or manage the stress of daily life, I aim to provide tools, strategies, and perspectives that foster healing and growth. I believe in meeting my clients where they are and guiding them toward a place of alignment and authenticity. My goal is to help them recognize their value, embrace who they are, and create lives that are fulfilling and joyful.
What sets me apart is my approach, which blends deep empathy with actionable strategies. I don’t just provide a space for people to vent or share their struggles—I help them take tangible steps toward healing and growth. I also understand that everyone’s journey is unique, and I tailor my services to meet individuals where they are, always encouraging self-reflection and progress at their own pace. I create a safe space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to make changes in their lives.
I’m incredibly proud of the impact SafeHaus Wellness Services has had on my clients’ lives. Whether it’s seeing someone embrace their sexuality unapologetically, or watching a client develop a healthy and sustainable fitness routine, witnessing their growth is what drives me. The work I do with my clients isn’t just about them finding their way forward—it’s about watching them tap into their full potential, feeling empowered, and living a life that truly reflects who they are.
I’m also proud of the growth of SafeHaus Foundation, which ensures that anyone who needs support can access it, regardless of their financial situation. It’s an essential part of my mission to make sure my services are available to as many people as possible, regardless of their circumstances.
The main thing I want potential clients, followers, or fans to know about me is that I am deeply committed to helping people build lives they can be proud of—lives where they feel confident, free, and completely themselves. I’m here to guide you through the journey of self-love, empowerment, and sexual confidence with tools, support, and deep compassion. If you feel stuck or uncertain about who you are or where you’re going, I’m here to help you break free from those limitations and create a life of fulfillment and joy.
I also want people to know that my approach is not about fitting into anyone else’s idea of what they should be—it’s about finding your own truth and embracing it fully. Whether you’re looking for help with mental health, relationships, sexuality, or anything in between, my mission is to help you feel empowered, clear, and deeply connected to your true self.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the most significant lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that “money is evil.” This mindset comes from my religious upbringing and the values instilled in me on the farm where I grew up. In both spaces, I was taught that being a good person meant being selfless, giving the shirt off my back, and making things affordable for everyone. The focus was on generosity and ensuring that others had what they needed, often at the expense of my own well-being or financial stability.
While these values are rooted in kindness and compassion, they didn’t set me up for success. I began to see that by constantly giving without fully valuing myself or my work, I was actually limiting my ability to help others. I wasn’t investing in myself or my business, and as a result, I wasn’t able to grow or reach as many people as I truly wanted to. This created a cycle where I was pouring energy into helping others but wasn’t able to sustain that energy long-term. I found myself feeling burnt out and unable to reach my full potential.
Through a lot of self-reflection and coaching, I realized that my mindset around money was holding me back. I had to unlearn the belief that money was inherently selfish or corrupt and instead see it as a tool—an exchange of energy. Money, in and of itself, isn’t bad; it’s how we use it that determines its impact. When I started viewing money as a resource for growth, I began to shift my perspective.
The more money I have, the more I can help others in a meaningful and sustainable way. It allows me to invest in my business, support my clients more effectively, and scale the impact I’m trying to make. Money is a means to create positive change, not just for me, but for those I serve. It enables me to offer more scholarships, build better resources, and expand my reach, ultimately allowing me to do the work I love at a higher level.
By embracing this mindset shift, I’ve been able to approach my business with a sense of abundance rather than scarcity, and I’m now in a position to help more people than I ever could before. This shift has allowed me to take better care of myself and my work, which in turn, creates more opportunities to support others.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One of the most impactful books I’ve come across is The Big Leap by Dr. Gay Hendricks. This book has completely shifted the way I approach my work, my business, and even my own personal growth.
In particular, it helped me see the immense value of my personal story in relation to my work. I had always thought that my experiences were just part of who I was, but Hendricks helped me realize that my story is a huge part of what makes me uniquely suited to help my clients. He emphasizes that our personal stories can become one of our greatest tools when we align them with our work, and that insight was a game changer for me.
The book also taught me the importance of operating within my “zone of genius”—those areas where I am not just skilled, but truly aligned with my authentic self. For years, I tried to do everything, from handling all aspects of my business to taking on tasks outside of my core expertise. But The Big Leap made me realize that when I focus on what I’m genuinely gifted at, everything else falls into place more easily and effectively. It’s about recognizing where I can make the biggest impact, not by doing everything, but by doing what I am uniquely equipped to do.
One of the most transformative lessons I took from the book was the concept of identifying and overcoming limiting beliefs. Hendricks taught me to recognize the beliefs I had been carrying that were standing in the way of my success. These beliefs were holding me back from stepping fully into my potential. Through the book, I learned to refocus my energy on my gifts, talents, and skills, which has allowed me to take bold leaps in my business and personal life. It’s been crucial in helping me move past self-doubt and into a place of greater confidence and action.
Overall, The Big Leap has been a powerful guide for not only identifying the areas where I can thrive but also how to break through the barriers I’ve unconsciously put in my own way. It’s a book I return to frequently for both inspiration and practical tools to continue evolving as an entrepreneur and as a person.
