Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kevin Lieu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kevin, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I always get asked this question. Keeping in mind future franchising and catchy name, I came up with the name in one day. I definitely did not want to name it some generic name like Kevin’s Detailing as I wanted the name to represent charismatic approach to the business and to leave a lasting impact on the consumer.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Slide In Mobile Detailing LLC is an automotive reconditioning and Detailing company based out of Everett, WA. This company started out of a home garage and a Scion XB and was funded with $500 from the owner Kevin Lieu. With the funds, he purchased all of the nessarry core equipment to start detailing client vehicles on a professional level. Slide In Mobile Detailing LLC now employs 4 full time employees in the city of Everett and we are able to meet the increased demands of auto detailing and Reconditioning. We strive on providing the highest level of customer service with attention to detail on the actual service. We pride ourselves in sticking to our core values of honesty, customer service, and importance of doing a good job the first time. We won Seattle Times Best Of PNW in both 2023 and 2024 which is Seattle Times’ yearly award for businesses in the Greater Seattle Area. Also we were featured on Upflips YouTube Video with over 2 million global views.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first started Slide In, it took about 30 days to get our first customer. I will admit that was a testing time, as I had already invested $500 on the initial equipment, and additional to form the LLC, marketing, and the website. We continued to market, make improvements on the website, and cold call until we got out first customer on January 30th, 2021.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The biggest lesson that I had to “unlearn” is not pricing and quoting from my pocket book but the Client’s. This was a hard and nessarry lesson because pricing the product so it actually makes profit is important for the survivability of the business and our ability to scale the business. I had to learn how to be confident in quoting out pricing as well.
