We were lucky to catch up with Kevin Le recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kevin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was moving away from my hometown and my family to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting, stunts, and directing. It was a leap into the unknown—leaving behind the comfort of familiarity for the uncertainty of an industry where success is never guaranteed. I had no safety net, no guarantees, and no clear roadmap, just a passion for storytelling and the willingness to work relentlessly to make it happen.
Moving to LA meant stepping into one of the most competitive industries in the world. Out here, talent alone isn’t enough. It’s about persistence, resilience, and constantly proving yourself. Unlike a traditional career path where there’s some level of stability, the entertainment industry is unpredictable. You could have an amazing month full of opportunities, then go weeks without work. It’s a test of endurance, requiring constant hustle—training, networking, creating, and seizing every opportunity to grow.
Being away from family added another layer of difficulty. I left behind the support system that had always been there for me, and with that came moments of loneliness and doubt. There were times when I questioned if I had made the right choice. But in those moments, I reminded myself why I took this risk in the first place: because I knew deep down that this was what I was meant to do.
Despite the challenges, taking this leap has led to incredible opportunities. I’ve worked on projects that I’m proud of, collaborated with talented people, and continued to grow as an artist and a filmmaker. The risk of leaving my comfort zone allowed me to build a career on my own terms—one where I get to tell stories, create action, and push myself to new creative heights.
Looking back, I realize that the biggest risks often come with the greatest rewards. Had I chosen to stay in my hometown, I wouldn’t be where I am today. The uncertainty, the struggle, and the endless grind have all been worth it because I’m living my passion. Taking the risk wasn’t just about chasing a dream—it was about betting on myself, and that’s a gamble I’d take again any day.

Kevin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not be familiar with me, my name is Kevin Le. I’m an action actor, stunt coordinator, and director with a deep passion for bringing high-energy, cinematic storytelling to life. My journey into this industry started with martial arts—I grew up training in various disciplines, developing a love for movement, discipline, and performance. That passion eventually led me to the stage, where I transitioned into acting, and from there, into the world of professional stunt work.
Breaking into stunts was a grind, but my persistence paid off. Over time, I worked on major productions for platforms like Hulu and Amazon Prime, gaining firsthand experience in crafting action on a professional level. That experience opened doors, leading me to stunt coordinating, where I took on the responsibility of designing and executing fight choreography and action sequences.
At the same time, I was developing my skills as a director. What started as shooting action videos with friends for YouTube became something much bigger. I fell in love with storytelling—especially the challenge of blending high-impact action with compelling narratives. Over the years, my work has evolved, and I’m now a multi-award-winning director. My latest film, Kings of Triad: Uprising, won five awards and earned three nominations, including Best Action, Best Editing, and Best Sound. It has also gained over 500,000 views, solidifying itself as a standout indie action film.
Through my company, NightOwl Cinema, I focus on creating cinematic, high-quality action content for films, commercials, and social media. Whether it’s crafting thrilling fight sequences, designing stunts, or directing full-scale productions, I bring a combination of technical expertise, creativity, and a relentless work ethic to every project. What sets me apart is my ability to wear multiple hats—I understand action from both the performance and directorial perspectives, allowing me to create sequences that are not only visually stunning but also serve the story.
I take pride in pushing boundaries, whether it’s elevating indie action filmmaking or helping brands tell their stories in dynamic, engaging ways. My goal is to inspire audiences, entertain, and prove that action storytelling isn’t just about fights—it’s about emotion, character, and storytelling through movement.
For potential clients, fans, and followers, I want people to know that I’m dedicated to this craft. Every project I take on, whether it’s an independent short or a high-profile production, gets my full passion and energy. I believe in creating action that resonates—not just cool stunts, but moments that leave an impact. If you love action-driven storytelling, innovative fight choreography, or dynamic filmmaking, I’d love for you to follow my journey and see what’s next.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely. One of my biggest missions as an action actor, stunt coordinator, and director is to be part of the movement that shines a better light on Asian American actors and storytellers. For too long, Asian representation in Hollywood has been limited, stereotyped, or overlooked. I want to change that by creating, performing, and directing stories where Asian characters are fully realized, complex, and powerful.
I’ve always believed that representation matters—when people see themselves reflected on screen in dynamic, meaningful ways, it inspires confidence and fuels dreams. That’s why I push so hard in everything I do, whether it’s crafting a role, choreographing action, or directing a film. Every project is an opportunity to break old narratives and showcase Asian talent in a way that is authentic, empowering, and exciting.
Beyond representation, my goal is to leave a legacy and a creative footprint that lasts. I don’t just want to participate in the industry—I want to help shape it. I want to build a body of work that inspires the next generation of Asian American creatives, proving that we can be the leads, the heroes, the visionaries behind the camera. If my work can pave the way for others and contribute to a shift in how Asian stories are told, then I know I’ve done something meaningful.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to bring something to life that didn’t exist before—to take an idea, a vision, or a moment and turn it into a tangible experience that impacts others. Whether it’s an action sequence that leaves people in awe, a performance that resonates emotionally, or a film that stays with someone long after the credits roll, that ability to create something meaningful out of nothing is what drives me.
Another major reward is the connection with people. As an actor, stunt performer, and director, I get to work with some of the most talented and passionate individuals out there. There’s something incredible about the collaborative nature of filmmaking—every project is a shared experience where people bring their skills and energy together to create something bigger than themselves.
Lastly, seeing how my work inspires others is one of the biggest payoffs. Whether it’s young Asian actors and stunt performers reaching out, telling me they feel encouraged to pursue their dreams, or an audience member simply enjoying and connecting with a story I helped tell—that’s when I know the work is worth it. Creating art isn’t just about self-expression; it’s about impact, and that’s what makes it all rewarding.
