We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kevin James a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kevin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I’ve been interested in music my whole life, but I didn’t take it serious until 2018-2019 when I realized college wasn’t working for me.  I always knew I wanted to do something within the music industry, I just didn’t know where to start. So I moved back to Georgia in hopes of something kicking off. A lot of passion sparked for me while working my internship at a recording studio in Atlanta. I was able to work with several artists and partake in bringing their art to life, then Covid hit, giving me all the time to think of a plan to bring my own vision of music to life. I then decided to came back to my home town of Michigan in Summer 2020 to make some power moves of my own, and by the end of that year I had my own studio and record label. I knew I couldn’t depend on anybody but myself if I wanted to obtain all the things I dreamt, so I took that chance & so far I’ve been doing pretty good for myself.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am an overall businessman. I draw, I rap, I manage, I’m just a person that’s trying to learn every aspect of this industry while playing this game. The music is my main focus right now, continuing to build up my portfolio, I am also in the business to advise/push other artists or producers. I’m always learning & giving back the knowledge I’ve gained that helped me on my journey, that’s why I built Beautiful Sinners Empire. This is a family oriented team, we never take from each other and we are all like minded people; never tearing each other down only lifting each other up, for motivational purposes. I’m proud of what my team and I have become so far, but we barely scratched the surface. That’s why we take the small wins and add them up. My ideas for BSE are endless because I’m never satisfied, I always want to better myself and my team. So we’ll see where life takes us!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

When it comes to the people I work with, I always want to have something in common with them. I strive to be as genuine as possible, making the partnerships even more fruitful. I mainly reach out to people through social media platforms. I also understand that within this business you have to be willing to take a lot of risk, specifically spending your own money. Every now and then, you may take a loss due to bad business, but you have to bounce back because at the end of the day if you don’t do it who will?

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Staying consistent & having discipline will take you further than you ever thought. Whatever you’re investing your time & money in, you have stay consistent with it. Even when times are slow, you still have to feed your passions love, that’s where the discipline comes in. You have to be able to block out the outside noise and anything else that’s trying to stop you from taking that next step to expand. If you ignore all the distractions,watch your life change. You just have to believe.
