Kevin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?

Even though I am still very new to the world of business and am just learning as I go, I would still have to say that I wish I would have started my business sooner. Coming out of high school, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I remember when my senior year of high school began, and realizing during that time period, “Oh shit, I’m gonna have to do something with the rest of my life after this is over.” My Mom talked me into going to nursing school, because “I would always have a job in healthcare” and she was a nurses’ aide for 20+ years at that point. Getting through school was fine enough, but working as a professional RN has definitely left a lot to be desired. Working in a job that mentally drains me and that I’ve grown to loathe has taught me indirectly what I really want to do with my life, and that’s where Kevie The Dreamer, LLC has come into fruition.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Kevin Jackson, but everyone calls me “Kevie.” I was born and raised in the small village of Gallipolis, OH that nobody has ever heard of before. I am a creative who is a singer, model, writer, and podcast host. Since the last time I spoke with you guys, I have launched the second season of my personal self-empowerment podcast titled “Kultivation w/ Kevie”, which features many notable guests such as Torrie Wilson, Kara Drew fka WWE Diva Cherry, actor Bryan Hearne, etc. I am also the cohost of “The Official 90’s Babies Podcast”; which is also in its’ second season and is presented and distributed by the @80s90sand00svibes brand on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

I am a print and runway model who has walked and modeled for numerous brands. In addition to modeling, I am also an R&B singer who grew up with Gospel roots singing in church. I am very creative, and have a lot of ideas and creative projects that I hope to get off the ground. I am always looking to collaborate with other creatives and brands, and book guests on both my self-empowerment and nostalgic podcast. I believe in love and positivity, and I believe that kindness, not only to others but also to yourself, can heal the world.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

My first professional job was as a new grad RN in a small ICU at a tiny hospital somewhere in Ohio. This job was extremely toxic. I was harassed, bullied, targeted, racially profiled… you name it. I have multiple stories that I could share from this time period in my life, but what I will say is that instead of letting mean spirited people break me and make me miserable like them, I was able to use the experience for my greater good. This was a very difficult time in my life, but going through it for almost a year made me stronger and helped me find the strength to stand up for myself and against negativity and toxicity.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.

As a fellow nostalgic, I found my podcast cohost/brand and business partner through social media. Quia was interviewing a mutual follower on Instagram Live, and from there I connected with her by picking her brain and learning from her skills and experiences. We now have a brand and are looking to expand with events, content, etc.
