Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kevin Hinton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kevin Hinton, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
I once worked for a small mom and pop computer store in DC. I had started there from painting and when they ran out of walls that I could paint, one day I answered the phone in what they considered an astonishing professional voice! The boss was like “What was that?” That voice you used. So then, they had me answer the phones after that. I quickly started to learn more of the products and then started ringing out customers then running the floor. once we moved a couple of doors down from the original location, I started putting marketing ad’s together for the products that we sold. Every week like the stuff you see from target, Best Buy etc. Then I moved up to custom window designs for the store. That was really fun! So I was graphic designer/window designer /sales manager, you get it. After making one of my best window designs ever, I was on my why to use the restroom and the owner of the store stopped me and said “Ive been meaning to talk to you and give you this”. I looked down and in his have was an envelope. He said to me you’re a very talented man and im glad we had the chance to work together. Take this and continue to be great! I looked in the envelope and there was a check for $350.00 for the window design id put together. it was probably for everything, but on a random wednesday afternoon that was pretty sweet.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started in the digital media industry from music, then it became more about capturing videos, pictures cam right along with that mainly because of getting better with composition. However I fell in love with pictures and really, here we are! Kreative71 is a digital media production company that specializes in every medium that tells a story. My clients trust my vision and ideas with their stories, videos, music, marketing, graphic designs and more. I’m proud and appreciative from having people seek me out from hearing about the work I’ve done, and then work with me to have that event, movie and or score come to life.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There isn’t any one thing or mission that drives my goals, but if I had to state a couple of things that go through my mind everyday. Its the endgame of living and doing something that I love to do, while providing a life that’s awesome to me.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I’d have to say the most rewarding has been being invited to be the person to capture a very good friend’s wedding. It’s was only the bride, groom, the officiator and myself. The groom stated he only wanted the best kind of love to be present and I was one of them.
