Alright, Kevin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
The first time I ever earned a dollar from doing a Photoshoot was with my friend Neidy, she saw that I was starting to take pictures and ask if I can take pictures of her at a park and how much would I charge. I was barely starting so my price REALLY low I told her $50 for the hour. I know it’s a little bit but most definitely it felt nice getting paid to do something you love

My name is Kevin Castillo, a photographer from Dallas. My journey into photography began from experimenting with my mom’s flip phone camera and listening to my brother’s photographic experiences, igniting a passion for capturing moments early on. In 2019, I made the bold decision to buy my first camera and embarked on a journey of self-taught photography skills HOURS of watching videos and reading. Holding a camera feels like channeling my emotions into an art form that I envision as my future career path Through photography, I have encountered remarkable individuals, and my aspiration is to connect with a diverse range of people through my lens. Make everyone’s Dream/vision become their reality!!! Now, at 24, photography is not just a career but a passion that continues to bring joy and excitement to my life. Whether I’m exploring new places, meeting interesting people, or simply capturing the beauty of a sunrise, photography remains a fun and fulfilling adventure.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of my creative journey in photography is the mission to capture authenticity. I aim to document genuine moments and emotions that resonate with viewers, allowing them to connect with the stories behind each image. Another goal of my photography is to inspire creativity in others. I want to encourage people to see the world differently, to find beauty in the mundane, and to express themselves through their unique lens. My creative journey is driven by a desire for continuous learning and growth. Photography is an ever-evolving art form, and I am committed to expanding my skills, experimenting with new techniques, and staying open to innovative ideas.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing everyone’s faces whenever they see the pictures and they tell me how much they love them! I think the best compliment anyone can give me is whenever they use the picture I took as their profile picture.
