We were lucky to catch up with Kevin Blodgett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kevin, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
We have so many customer success stories and transformations, it’s hard to choose just one! Of course, we have countless examples of fitness and fat loss successes – losing 40,50,60 pounds and more with us. We also have multiple examples of people improving their mental health, relationships, stress management and overall outlook on life from coming to our gym. Our driving mission is to serve, and these success stories are both validation and motivation!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I spent the first 20 years of my career in the Legal and Energy space, starting as a Corporate associate at Baker Botts LLP in Houston. I later moved in-house, serving as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of a Fortune 500 company and then as General Counsel of a pre-IPO OFS company. After a brief stint running a legal consulting practice, I decided to “burn the boats” and go all-in on a second half career as a mission-driven entrepreneur. My first investment was to bring Legends Boxing to my neighborhood in West Houston, and we opened there in October 2019. We recently opened our second location in Cypress and are having a ball with our growing Tribe!
I don’t know too many Corporate lawyers turned boxing gym owners! My real passion in this “second half” of my career is to change lives. We do that at Legends Boxing through our one-of-a-kind facility and workouts, delivered by an amazing team of coaches who share this passion for helping others. We also do it through our Rock Steady Boxing program, which helps folks with Parkinson’s Disease slow the progression of PD through a tailored, non-contact boxing fitness program.
In terms of what sets us apart, obviously, we deliver tangible results like any other boutique fitness studio – those are table stakes. Our key differentiators are that we teach REAL boxing, so our members are learning a real skill that keeps them learning, growing and coming back for more. On top of that, we are a family, a Tribe. We know your name, we know why you are at Legends, and we are committed to helping you smash your goals. Whether it be fitness and fat loss, learning a new skill, mental clarity, stress relief, meeting new friends or something else, we are relentless in our support for and encouragement of our Tribe members.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Our reputation is largely built on our commitment to service. I believe we are blessed to be a blessing. We have an incredible opportunity to serve our local community, and we take that opportunity very seriously. Don’t get me wrong, we have a blast working out with our crew. We strive to make Legends a fun, family-friendly environment. But we never lose sight of why we exist and the privilege it is to serve.
Our members trust us to walk alongside them and to help them crush their goals. We seek to earn that trust every day, through every interaction. We view fitness and fat loss as a gateway to an overall transformation, and our members have grown to count on us to invest in them as individuals, encourage them and hold them accountable.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think the fact that we not only survived the COVID 19 pandemic, but are thriving and growing is the best illustration of our resilience. We opened the Memorial gym in October 2019, just a month or two before the COVID 19 pandemic reached our shores. Of course, gyms like ours were forced to shut down in the Spring of 2020. While many of our competitors were shuttered permanently, we took the opportunity to really engage with our Tribe and meet them where they were. The Legends franchise team was also incredibly helpful by providing virtual workouts and other tools for us to keep adding value and supporting our members from afar. We re-opened Memorial in May 2020, with restrictions, and we recently opened our second location in Cypress. We consider it a privilege to serve our Tribe and to provide them a safe haven.
