We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kevin Adams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kevin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of my meaningful projects would have to be my talk about loneliness, depression, love. I will go deeper into each one of these topics later on in my career, but I just wanted to touch bases in one project for now, and talk about it again in another a little more detail. In my most recent photos I had the opportunity to work with a new model and brother in the arts named Javan. We met through America and hit it off pretty well. We started talking about our lives and our connection to the craft we enjoy. Now when you get two powerful forces with laughter and wisedom in the room you know the photo session was bound to be something amazing. Javan helped me tell the still-story of my journey through this last year. Facing death, my fall back into depression and lust. Through this new friend I found meaning back into the craft that I loved where I lost hope.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey, my name is Kevin Adams but everyone calls me KJ. I am an artist in Houston,Texas and I’ve been doing photography for nine years. it has been a journey of self discovery and self expression through the realm of photography and I couldn’t have been more blessed to have had the opportunities to meet so many people and help them with a lot of their creative needs. I don’t believe that any idea is too small or too big. I don’t believe there’s a story that should not be told. We have the power To tell stories that help shape and change our generation and the generations to come. My goal for 2024 24 is to return to filmmaking and have at least one short film done by years end. It’s going to take some time but with the support system I have I’m sure that it is certain.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
So just this past 2023 in May I had got into a car accident with my mother, and from then on my life what kind of shift over to a brand new schedule a brand new routine and I had to rebuild myself from the ground up because for a hot moment, I really thought this was it for me. The damages weren’t too severe, but it was enough Memory damage to kind of reform my perspective on my art, and my career as a photographer.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. It’s gonna take some time, a lot of planning, creative thinking, caffeine and a lot of finance (help me please lol) , but my goal is to at least return to filmmaking and produce short stories and maybe even my own film on YouTube! I don’t know my therapist told me I should try that out. Thanks mom.
