Alright, Kevieonta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
Even though I have been a business owner for the pass four years I was an employee/customer for a lot longer. I always understood the importance of treating people how you want to be treated regardless of your job title/status. I have been blessed to be able to give my customers free flights, rentals and hotels at random just to show them my appreciation.
Kevieonta, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Kevieonta Goings, CTRS. I am the owner of Kevieonta’s Financial Services, Moore For Your Money Services and Travel Time With Tae.
Born in Raceland, Louisiana and raised in New Orleans, LA. I enjoy traveling, mentoring and building others up in a way that they can provide for themselves and their families for a lifetime. I’m a HBCU graduate Southern University and a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When you are managing a team always remember that in order to properly lead you have to know how to follow. Me personally I know there are things that I can’t do well such as promotional material, ads, flyers and etc so I make sure I have someone on my team who does. I know that in order to continuously grown you have to always be willing to learn.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
So with my temp service agency we get paid large sums weekly from multiple companies. So one thing that scared me tremendously was when we kept getting “account holds” so are bank can verify the charges. We were making so much money so fast they literally put a hold on our account that caused us to push back one of our payrolls a few days later. I felt completely discouraged and immediately anxious because being a small business owner especially a black business owner people unfortunately look for you to mess up or fail but I’m here to tell you things will always happen it’s all about how you react to each situation.
