We were lucky to catch up with Kevaniel Newbold recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kevaniel, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
The best boss I ever had was Brittany Wolter. At 20 years old, with little to no experience in the administrative world, I walked into the Inn of Naples, a hotel, for a position. Brittany saw potential in me and offered me a job as a front desk clerk. She taught me visionary leadership, adaptability, and resilience in my work. She invested in me and imparted valuable knowledge, providing me with five years of experience in areas such as banking, reconciliation, accounts receivable, auditing, customer relations, payroll, and more. She was dedicated to empowering and uplifting her team to reach their full potential. She encouraged me to take on new challenges that were beneficial for both my professional and personal growth. I always tell her I will never stop thanking her for the love, lessons, and experiences she shared with me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey began at 20, when I landed my first job as an administrative assistant in a tax office. At the same time, I also took on a role as a front desk clerk at a hotel, which is where my passion for the hospitality industry truly sparked.
Eventually, I made the difficult decision to leave my administrative job to fully focus on my position at the hotel, recognizing the immense potential it held. Within just two years, I was promoted to Front Office Manager, a role that introduced me to the intricacies of operations and human resources. I gained experience in everything from accounts receivable and auditing to data analytics and customer relations. By the age of 24, I had climbed the ladder once more, becoming the Operations Manager. It was then that I realized operations was where my true strengths are.
After honing my skills and gaining invaluable experience, I felt confident enough to take the leap and start my own business. That’s when B.O.L.D Consulting Agency was born in 2022. My business specializes in optimizing operations with a focus on operations management, sops, and bookkeeping. I’m passionate about providing these businesses with valuable tools and resources they need to establish a strong operational foundation while educating them on business structure and business streamlines.
It is important to understand that a well-built operational foundation is essential for sustaining growth, maintaining competitiveness, enhancing productivity, fostering adaptability, and achieving long-term success in any business is crucial. It has become such a passion for me. That I started accepting speaking engagements to educate those beyond just my clients.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source for new clients often comes through networking. It’s essential to promote your business consistently, almost like being a walking billboard. This doesn’t mean being a nuisance, but rather subtly reminding people of what you do and letting them know that you’re available if anyone needs your services.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A crucial lesson I had to learn in business is that the customer is not always right. I experienced burnout from trying to meet every client demand, which was neither beneficial for me nor for their companies. To provide the best service, I needed to focus on being my best self. This led me to shift from the “customer is always right” mentality to valuing the customer’s opinion while maintaining a balanced perspective.
Valuing the customer’s opinion encourages businesses to listen and consider feedback, but also to factor in fairness, quality, and overall business well-being. Adhering strictly to the notion that “the customer is always right” can create unrealistic expectations. By adopting a balanced approach, businesses can achieve high customer satisfaction while upholding their values and standards.
