Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ketriana Yvonne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ketriana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have always had a passion for the creative arts first attending the H.S. of Fashion Industries majoring in fashion design. I then moved to Los Angeles to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising majoring in merchandising and marketing. I worked in retail as an assistant buyer and management for over two decades. I then had the passion to become a makeup artist and later an esthetician and laser technician doing hair and tattoo removal and was content having pursued my goals. Never imagining I would become a creative writer and producer.
I then decided to start a business One Woman League to help woman start their own businesses, while pursuing this new venture; I somehow had my life changed by almost not taking a class Poetry to Image because I wondered why I wasn’t a poet this one free class at the public library. I fought my fear and attended this class changed my whole life. I went and met someone in the class we became friends. I would always tell her stories and she was a writer and said “Ketriana you have great stories you should write” and immediately I heard my voice and I listened.
We took a creative writing class together that was seven years ago. I am now a poet/writer/producer and filmmaker totally committed to being immersed in the creative arts from interviewing artists I deemed to be the legends of the future. I won two BFree First Amendment Awards one in 2017 for my first show “ Poetry for Change” and another on “Community Gardens” in 2021.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

My name Ketriana Yvonne has become my brand I am all things creative in the arts. I was honored with a Citation from Fashion and the Arts and Society of Ethical Culture,
What I want people to know most about me is that before the things I do I am will always remain love first.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative artist is I get to work with community of professionals that bring inspiration to my soul and through collaboration create work that one person could not imagine so you get something new and beautiful. I also love the energy that creatives operate from it is pure love. I love that creatives artists are a major force that change the world.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I believe non creatives first of all is a term that should be canceled. The mindset of one not in the arts is either they are not as talented in comparison to others. Thinking this way will keep your mind trapped in a traditional job with your talent unknown. The other unsettling factor is the fear that you can’t make money and live a comfortable life. You can but it takes discipline and effectively marketing yourself following up on opportunities and applying for grants; this is where my help comes in.
The last most important thing is to never compare yourself to anyone else admire yes but never feel anyone is greater than yourself. In reality we don’t read the same books or like the same plays, dancers or artists; but you will find your tribe so do not judge yourself. We are all one of a great creation.
