We recently connected with Ketan Strong and have shared our conversation below.
Ketan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
My name is Anirvan. It was a name that was given to me by my birth parents in Calcutta, India. It means eternal flame that can never be extinguished. I was adopted when I was six months old to upper-middle class, Caucasian American parents. They renamed me Ketan Strong, and they tried as hard as they could to extinguish my flame. When I was 18, they kicked me out of the house and told me to go make it after having taken everything from me, including all of my adoption funds. they abused me all throughout my childhood and then made sure I had no money at all so my life after 18 was all taking risks.
My stepparents raised me an upper middle-class home, with all the luxuries and comforts of a normal American upbringing. However, they also physically abused me, tortured me as a young child, constantly rated and abused me verbally, and made sure I knew that I wasn’t worth anything, including having any allowance, Lock on my door. They up appearances for the neighbors, but instead of setting me up for success in life, they used the money that was a lot to me by adoption agency for themselves. Stories of Cinderella and Harry Potter come to mind, and in every heroes journey, the hero has to leave their home and go often to the world to find themselves to purpose in life. This is what I had to do with no life set up, no money, and no support from family.
I had to follow my intuition, and my heart. I’ll always remember the day when I was sitting at my friends house in Peoria, Illinois, where I was mostly raised. I was watching him mow and suddenly I realized I couldn’t stay and I had to leave. I had been working hard going nowhere for years trying to appease my step parents. I worked at McDonalds, fedex, motel 6, Steak ‘n Shake, and as a dishwasher. I had no money but somehow the universe got me to Kauai, Hawaii, where I trained in the yogic and healing arts, growing my healing skills and discovering more of who I really am. I now have over a decade of experience, training, and practice in yoga, meditation, holistic and plant medicine, fasting, strength and weight training, crystals and gems, and animal healing. I found my wife on a synchronistic day at the healthy food store, and 12 years later we are still together.
If I did not take the risk of traveling without money, or plans, I would never have learned the extremely useful skills that I know, and an expert in, I never would’ve met my amazing and beautiful wife, and I never would have become the Real Me. Through all of the hardship, struggle, limitations, a gem was tumbled and has come out shining and bright. My step parents did not teach me what I needed to know, but I learned all the right things by seeking the Truth. All the beautiful and powerful facets of my being have come from my many experiences in trust and faith through the world. I met so many wonderful people, and I was able to share my gifts with so many deserving souls. If I hadn’t left the home and family I was raised by, wouldn’t have ever found my real home and real family. Family isn’t necessarily birth, or upbringing. It’s who loves you and who cares about you. And you only need one. Love yourself, and be true to yourself, and you’ll find your way in the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Because of the lack of love and care I had from my parents, I was seeking in the world for the truth of my heart. My racist step parents never nurtured my culture- quite the opposite, they tried to beat it out of me., But the truth is that I was born in India with yogic skills and capabilities, and yoga runs in my blood. So I was always gifted in and attracted to, everything about healing, health, crystals, kundalini, psychic and spiritual abilities, meditation, plant and holistic medicine, and more.
I have studied and trained in these healing arts for over a decade now. I’ve had hundreds of clients benefit immensely from personal training, healing sessions, and health/wellness/yogic training. I Studied in Colorado, California, Hawaii, the Midwest, and Michigan, and after 20 years experience, I have landed in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area with my wife, who I also trained. At 39, I have honed my arts to an expert level.
Practicing Brahmacharya, I was celibate for 10 years with my wife, all organic, vegan and vegetarian for 10 years, abstained from all technology for over a year, even lived alone for months in pure nature. I lived without everything normal Americans take for granted and experienced all sides of the coin.
I do intermittent fasting, exercise, work out, and I do my meditation, yoga, and healing practices every single day. A true Yogi never stops training. This is what sets me apart from others in this field. Not only do I walk the walk and practice what I preach, but I have also honestly trained in this field for over a decade. The healing arts run in my blood, and I am naturally gifted and always have been in this area. Since I was a child, I have experienced heightened spiritual awareness and skills that others around me did not experience. I am proud of my Indian heritage, and I am proud that I was born in my homeland. The energy of India is yoga and is healing and love and truth and joy and bliss, and Righteousness, everything good. My culture teaches us how to Live a Good Life, and every day I make my ancestors proud with my life and lifestyle.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My story, my journey, my life has been one of resilience. I was adopted by step parents who mentally, emotionally, and physically abused me, gave me nothing, and cast me out. I had to be mentally and emotionally resilient for my whole life. I had to do years of difficult inner work to undo the damage that my step parents did to me, while trying to make it in a world as a person of color with no money, assets, or financial or family support at all. I have experienced so much financial sabotage by my step family and in-laws, as well as so much racism and inequality in the world, that I have had to start over from nothing more than once. Creation and Destruction are part of life and I have learned to dance in Shivas flames.
I have also learned that in life, you have to Love Yourself, Believe in Yourself, and Value Yourself and your Worth.
You can’t let others hold you back and you can’t let others hold you down.
You have to let go of what others think of you, believe about you, and want for you.
You have to let go of old belief systems and value and work hard every day to embody the Truth, Goodness, Righteousness, and Love.
And you have to never give up. You gotta keep going no matter what life throws your way, because if you do, you will make it to your goal and you will become a better character in your incredible story for it.
I am a living Testament to resilience. I have gone from poverty, homelessness, death of loved ones, and destruction of my entire life, to living in peace, love, family, and stability.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I had been living in Kauai Hawaii for over a year when I met my wife and business partner, Uma. I had been training in the wilderness, fasting and dieting, doing intense, spiritual, and yoga practices, and living on pure energy and nature. One day I was at the beach in deep Meditation when I Felt a powerful energy pulling me to the health food store about 10 miles away. I had no money and no car but I knew I had to go. I found a ride from a friend almost immediately, and I was on my way to the healthy hut in Kapaa town. I saw Uma right outside the door. She was beautiful with glowing skin and gorgeous, long black hair. She was wearing beach attire and a yellow cape. (She had been doing superhero training aka martial arts).
We immediately walked toward each other and knelt down together with our foreheads touching. I pulled out a natural citrine crystal that I’ve been carrying around with me, and we both held it together. I felt powerful surges of light and pure love enveloping my senses, and we stayed together in a deep, peaceful harmony that lasted for many minutes. I had been living in my tent, and my future wife had a place to live, and the first thing that she said to me was “you’re coming with me, right?” And I went with her. We were married in Hawaii and have been together now for 12 years.
We are both healing arts experts and do private events in the Ann Arbor Michigan area. We offer sober bar cannabis lounge music and art experiences that are extraordinary, unforgettable, and unique and one of a kind.
