We recently connected with Keshia Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Keshia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea for Slayy Hair Boutique was born from both my personal journey and my deep faith in Jesus Christ. I’ve always loved the art of beauty and transformation, but I knew that true beauty wasn’t just about how we look on the outside—it’s about the peace, confidence, and joy we carry within. I wanted to create something that empowered women not just to look their best but to feel their best, both inside and out.
My journey to launching Slayy Hair Boutique wasn’t a straight path. I went through multiple phases of starting over, refining my vision, and growing stronger in my purpose. But each time, I got better, learning from my challenges and becoming more confident in what I was building. What truly solidified my belief that this was a worthwhile endeavor was knowing that I wasn’t just selling wigs—I was creating an experience. I wanted my clients to feel the presence of God in my work, to wear a piece of Slayy Hair Boutique and feel transformed, not just in their appearance but in their spirit.
What excited me most was that I wasn’t just filling a space in the beauty industry—I was redefining it. While many brands focus solely on the external, I wanted to offer something deeper: a reminder that beauty starts from within, and that with Jesus, women can step into their fullest, most radiant selves. I knew there were plenty of luxury wig brands, but none that combined faith, empowerment, and beauty the way I envisioned.
As Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So as He uses me in this journey, I want to remind women that they are worthy, powerful, and beautifully made. That’s what keeps me going every day, and that’s why I know Slayy Hair Boutique is a purpose-driven brand that’s here to make a difference.
Keshia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Some of you may not know, my name is Keshia Williams. I was born and raised in Columbia, SC. I started doing hair—coloring and making wigs by hand—when I was just 16 years old. I remember being at my boyfriend’s parents’ house, coloring hair bundles on his mama’s kitchen table while he held the top end of the hair for me—lol! A few years later, we moved to Atlanta, where I’ve now been for seven years.
In our first year here, my boyfriend told me I should turn my talent into a career because he saw how good I was and knew this could be an incredible entrepreneurial journey for me. Fast forward two years, I decided to rebrand my business and officially name it Slayy Hair Boutique. Four years in, I took a step back to focus on my personal life and, most importantly, to find Jesus—our Lord and Savior. That was when everything changed.
I made the decision to put Jesus first in my business, letting Him lead while I became the worker. Once I took my faith seriously in September 2024, God started pouring new ideas into me, showing me the true purpose of my business. He began placing me in rooms I never thought I would be in, allowing me to learn new skills that would help me grow and elevate Slayy Hair Boutique. Now, Slayy Hair Boutique is a faith-based luxury wig brand designed not just to help women feel beautiful on the outside but to embrace the transformation Jesus brings on the inside as well.
As 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here.” I want every woman who wears a piece from Slayy Hair Boutique to be reminded that she is a new creation—worthy, powerful, and beautifully made in Christ. My business is about more than just hair; it’s about helping women step into their God-given confidence and identity.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me was when I placed God first in my business, allowing Him to guide me on when to post, how to post, and what to post! He is perfect, and He is all-knowing—His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways. Even when things didn’t make sense to me, I obeyed, and that obedience brought me so many clients who weren’t just looking for beautiful hair but also a beautiful spirit through Jesus Christ.
Psalm 18:30 says, “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless; he is a shield for all who take refuge in him.” Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.” These verses have been the foundation of my journey, proving that when we trust God fully, He will lead us exactly where we need to be—including to the clients He has destined for us.
Since making Jesus the foundation of my business, I’ve attracted women who not only love high-quality luxury wigs but also connect with the deeper message of Slayy Hair Boutique—embracing beauty from the inside out through faith.
Instagram has been a huge platform for reaching new clients. Consistently showcasing my work, sharing testimonials, and educating women on the benefits of my products have helped build trust and credibility. Engaging with my audience through reels, behind-the-scenes content, and faith-based encouragement has also strengthened my brand’s community.
Additionally, word-of-mouth has been powerful! When clients experience the quality of my wigs and the care I put into each piece, they naturally share with their friends, family, and social circles, bringing in more referrals.
Lastly, offering unique perks—like my free wig warranty and VIP membership—has helped attract new clients looking for luxury wigs with added value. By blending faith, beauty, and top-tier craftsmanship, I’ve been able to create a brand that speaks to women on a deeper level, keeping them coming back and inviting others to join the journey.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the biggest moments that tested my resilience was when I decided to fully surrender my business to Jesus in September 2024. Before that, I was operating Slayy Hair Boutique with my own strength—trying to figure everything out, stressing over sales, and constantly feeling like I had to chase success. But when I made Jesus the foundation, everything changed.
There was a time when I felt stuck. I had so many ideas but didn’t know which direction to take. I prayed and asked God to guide me, and soon, He began placing me in rooms I never thought I would be in—rooms where I learned new skills, gained wisdom, and connected with like minded people. However, walking in faith wasn’t always easy. There were moments when I questioned if I was doing the right thing, moments when things didn’t move as fast as I expected, and moments of doubt.
But I held onto God’s promises. I leaned on Isaiah 41:10, which says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” That verse reminded me that as long as Jesus was leading me, I had nothing to fear.
The most beautiful part of this journey is seeing how God continues to bless Slayy Hair Boutique. The ideas He gave me, the clients He sent my way, and the purpose behind my business have all been His doing. This journey has shown me that resilience isn’t just about pushing through struggles—it’s about fully trusting God, even when things don’t make sense. Through it all, I’ve learned that when Jesus is at the center, success follows in ways greater than I ever imagined.
