Keshia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Hi, I’m Keshia Kastl, owner of Photos by Keshia! I’ve been running my photography business for 15 wonderful years. From a young age, I’ve been passionate about all things creative. My artistic journey started with painting, but as I ventured into college, my love for photography took center stage. By the time I graduated with a Photography degree from UCO in 2015, I was already working full-time as a wedding and portrait photographer. Starting in the industry at a young age taught me so much—not just about creating stunning images on the fly, especially in dynamic wedding environments, but also about the importance of excellent customer service and clear communication.

Photos by Keshia is a full-service photography studio based in Yukon, OK, offering a wide range of personalized services both on location and in the studio. Every session is uniquely tailored to my clients, whether it’s:

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Life doesn’t always go as planned, but challenges have a way of shaping us. In 2014, I found myself young and divorced—a difficult chapter that could have derailed me. Instead, I chose to channel my energy into something positive: growing my business. Adapting to a new life of independence wasn’t easy, but it motivated me to work harder, push boundaries, and turn my small business into a thriving source of income. That period of growth taught me resilience, determination, and the power of focusing on what truly matters. It’s a journey I’m proud of and one that’s made me the person and business owner I am today

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

When I graduated, it was a different era—social media wasn’t as widespread, and platforms like TikTok hadn’t even entered the picture. Looking back, I wish I’d known more about the wealth of online courses available to help creatives hone their craft. As a young graduate, access to those resources could have allowed me to dive deeper into the areas of photography I’m most passionate about—especially boudoir photography!

Boudoir has been a love of mine from the very beginning, but it wasn’t something universities offered courses on at the time. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to studying and perfecting the art of boudoir photography. I’ve learned how to create magic in every shot through expert posing and lighting techniques, turning each session into something truly special.
