We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keshia Carr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keshia below.
Keshia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with my business idea to teach credit because like most consumers I had no knowledge of credit . Unfortunately most Americans aren’t taught the benefits of credit and impact of having good or bad credit. My vision started because most college graduates like myself are in the red by the time we complete school. Freshman year we are offered free products to sign up for credit cards when we first arrive to campus. We have no knowledge of credit scores or credit bureaus. My goal is educate and empower consumers especially young people to teach good credit habits at an early age. Building our communities and economics with credit knowledge.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Detroit-Native Releases Book to Educate High School Students About Credit
Keshia Carr’s new book teaches teens about credit scores, credit repair and credit and debt laws
DETROIT – Native Detroiter, real estate agent and credit coach, Keisha Carr has released her first book, Credit Conversation: Everything High School Students Need to Know about Credit, a guide that focuses on teaching teens about credit scores, credit repair, credit and debt laws, and credit cards. The goal of this book is to fight misconceptions that young adults may have around credit before they can experience financial turmoil due to lack of knowledge.
Carr is a Michigan State University graduate and has worked in real estate for over five years. As an established real estate agent, Carr became familiar with the importance of maintaining a decent credit score. As a birthday gift to herself, Carr made the decision to repair her credit and began researching credit laws, court cases and restoration. After successfully repairing her own credit, Carr decided to offer support to others in need of credit repair services.
“Credit restoration is always in demand because not many people are educated on what it takes to build and maintain a good score,” said Keisha Carr, founder of Credit and Conversation. “I get so passionate about serving my clients because most of them come from underserved communities and are in most need of support because credit education isn’t normalized. I’m hoping to change that with my business.”
To date, Carr has helped nearly 10,000 individuals and on average her clients have seen a 150-point increase in their credit scores. With the release of her recent book, Carr is aiming to educate and support a younger demographic.
“Based on my own college experience most kids go into debt before they are 21 because they are uneducated about credit,” said Keshia Carr, founder of Credit and Conversation. The first thing that happens when someone turns 18 is they are offered credit cards with no knowledge of how it will affect them in the long run. Most students graduate from college in the red from credit card debt and student loans. Teaching credit in high school creates good habits that ensure stability and create economic growth and homeowners in the future without having to make bad credit decisions that result in bankruptcy or needing restoration.”
