Alright, Keshawna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Sugar Luxe Candle Co was born from my personal self-care routine. During a time when I was pouring into myself through soothing bath rituals, candles became an essential part of that experience. It wasn’t just for the scent, but for the overall peace of mind and reset. I noticed I was constantly searching for something that felt luxurious, eco-conscious, and still affordable but when I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I decided to create it myself.
Once the idea took hold in 2020 during COVID, I couldn’t let it go. The very next day, I was committed to learning everything I could about candle-making, with a focus on craftsmanship, performance, and purpose. I spent hours looking into clean-burning waxes, sustainable ingredients, and scent blending. I chose coconut soy wax for its eco-conscious burn, smooth finish, and sustainability.
The first few months were filled with late nights experimenting in my kitchen, learning about temperature, fragrance loads, curing times, and vessel safety. Mastering the creative side was just one part of the journey. I also had to navigate the business side behind the brand. I filed for trademark protection, established my LLC, and sourced high-quality materials that aligned with my standards. From custom label design to building a polished website, every detail was crafted with intention. The result is a brand identity that embodies accessible luxury, mindful self-care, sustainable values, and fragrance experiences designed to leave a lasting impression.
Through months of trial and error, I perfected my formulas, deepened my understanding of the science, and aligned every detail with the vision I had for the brand. When I felt confident in both my product and purpose, I officially launched Sugar Luxe Candle Co on July 16, 2021.
It hasn’t always been easy, and there have been plenty of moments filled with doubt and uncertainty. However, when someone compliments the rich fragrance, the smooth, even burn, or the luxe packaging, I’m reminded that I truly created something special. What began as a personal ritual has grown into a brand that invites others to slow down, indulge in luxury, and reconnect through scent.

I’m a Los Angeles native, born and raised, with a deep love for meaningful connection whether through time spent with family and friends, traveling the world, or quiet moments by the ocean. The beach is my sanctuary, but there’s something equally therapeutic when hand-pouring my candles.
Sugar Luxe Candle Co was born from my personal self-care ritual and ultimately to raise the standard in home fragrance. In my search for candles that were luxurious, clean and affordable, I found myself constantly disappointed so I chose to create what I couldn’t find. What began as a passion project quickly evolved into a brand built on elevated fragrance, conscious craftsmanship, and everyday indulgence made accessible.
Today, Sugar Luxe Candle Co offers a refined collection of coconut soy candles, interior mists, wax melts, and luxe accessories. All products have been thoughtfully handcrafted with natural ingredients that are safe for the body, beautiful in the home, and unforgettable to the senses.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building our audience on social media has been a thoughtful process rooted in authenticity and quality. From the start, I prioritized beautiful, high-quality imagery and videos that reflect the elegance and warmth of Sugar Luxe Candle Co. By crafting eye-catching reels about the brand has made a big difference in building our community. Above all, maintaining consistent, intentional content has been essential in cultivating trust and loyalty.
For those just beginning, I’d say focus on creating content that truly represents your brand’s essence, invest in visuals that stand out, and show up consistently.

One of the most challenging moments in building Sugar Luxe Candle Co came early on, during those first months of experimenting in my kitchen. I spent countless late nights trying to perfect the formula by testing different wax blends, adjusting fragrance loads, and troubleshooting scent throw. There were so many times when the candles didn’t burn right, the fragrance faded too quickly, or the product simply didn’t meet the standard I set for myself.
It would have been easy to get discouraged or give up. However, I was driven by a clear vision to create a candle that not only smelled incredible but was also clean, eco-friendly, and accessible. Each setback became a lesson, pushing me to refine the process, deepen my knowledge, and never settle for less.
That resilience and willingness to embrace failure as part of the journey has shaped everything Sugar Luxe Candle Co stands for today. It taught me that quality and luxury aren’t about shortcuts; they’re about persistence, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating something truly exceptional. That mindset will continue to guide the brand.
