We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Keshawn Boone a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Keshawn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
Working in my industry can be challenging when it comes to pricing! I believe we all can disagree with low balling clients. Not all clients know our worth or understand why we have to charge what we charge. I always try my best to educate them and to explain the importance of a realistic budget!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi everyone,
My name is Keshawn and I’m the owner of Konfident Kreations Wedding and Event Design. We specialize in unique decor setups, balloon art and diy centerpieces.

You will not be disappointed when becoming apart of our KKE family!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think one of many stories which would illustrate my resilience would be losing my venue space in April 2022.
“The Studio at 411” opened in Nov 2020 right in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was the perfect hidden gem, intimate, nice and cozy event space. We hosted numerous events for clients and ourselves. Everyone would always say it was clean, it smelled good and felt like home. I always wanted my own venue space and it was the perfect stepping stone to teach me about operating one. The studio was smaller than I imagined but I made it into such a grand space and made it work.
Back in March, I received a call that we would be closed down immediately due to unforeseen circumstances. This happened 4 days before one of my annual events. I had to think quick, find another location for that event, contact clients to refund them for upcoming events and figure out what to do next with the building. I fought each and everyday for a whole month to try and save the venue(with no help from the owners). After receiving help from some other resources, I determined it was best for me to let the venue space go.
This was a very hard decision as it was now apart of my livelihood. I had tons of goals and visions for The Studio at 411, it became my 2nd baby. But I’m really understanding months later why I had to let it go. It was only for that season and God wanted to take me to another level in my career. Since leaving I’ve booked more weddings,I’ve done corporate events, and I’ve learned valuable lessons about being prepared for tough times in business.
I know I’ll get another building one day and I know it’s not impossible because I’ve already done it. I’ll get the building I truly see for myself and what I deserve. Although losing the venue was completely out of my control, how I handled it was and I’m proud of my decision!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience by just being me. Sharing my stories about how I started my business,I give updates on how it’s going and what our future plans would be. I would post all day and night whether the likes or comments came in or not. I would also post relatable materials and thought of posts my audience would want to see.
My advice would be to make sure what you post represents your brand and your brand only. If you’re a decorator no one wants to see food posts all day. Or if you’re a hairstylist they don’t want to see clothes. Stick to your brand and be sure what you’re posting is cohesive to it!
